I mostly use GW paints and this year I took a couple days to decant all my citadel paints into dropper bottles. While doing so I had to add a lot of thinner into my paints to get them to pour in the funnels. I was happy to do this because the GW paints are way to thick to apply out of the pot (assuming you are stirring). That being said I was wondering if anyone has compared the weight of the paints vs the volume between brands?
Not to start a war (There are some strong opinions about decanting) but I decanted because I have paints from 20 years ago ( I did decant a chestnut ink and metallic green *hexpot) and about $1000 all and all in paint if I were to purchase all over again. I did not want to replace them all with another brand (already in droppers) and I was tired of replacing them due to bad pot lids or spills and have been very happy with my paints since. I even consider it a bonus that I thinned them all down to move them. If I need a thicker application I just spread the paint a little more in a dry pallet, let evaporation do its thing and I am off to the races, but most the time I am working much thinner than what comes out of the pot normally.
