Hey all,

I want to make a base with necron bits on it. Planning on having them partially buried in Armageddon Dust, but I'm wondering on the best way to go about that.

My base is obviously undercoated, so I don't know if the plastic bonding glue will work. I could scrape some of the primer off and then use bonding blue, but I don't know if the base material reacts the same way as the model bits?

I also have some army painter super glue coming in that I could use. Do you think that would work? I planned on using it for rocks, but if it'll work for the necron bits too then that'll be problem solved.

What do y'all think?

When glueing primed plastic bits, I scrape off a bit of the primer on both sides to give the connection point some room for the glue to do it’s thing.

I use basic white PVA glue to stick rocks/tufts to bases. Superglue seems a bit much, but should work.

super glue, on some parts: best way may require pinning, or use tack glue for painted parts.

The standard gw plastic base works with polystyrene cement. In my errant youth I pasted poly cement over the top of painted layers amd it kinda works, but the paint pigment mixes into the bond reducing its effectiveness so Definately recommend going down To bare plastic.

Superglue would work just as well. With superglue think about the different layers in the system. If it’s plastic-glue-plastic, the. The only failures can come from the glue layer or the plastic. If you add one or more layers of paint, then failures can come from the paint layer breaking, or the paint layer peeling off the plastic underneath. So for light things that do t get touched much, superglue over the top of paint is likely to be ok. Anything else it’s better to go back to a solid substrate.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
