Hi guys,
Just wondering which version of Zombicide is everyone’s favorite?
Are they all pretty much the same just reskinned?
How about the space one whose name escapes me, any good?

I really enjoy Zombicide: Invader. It has probably hit my table more than any other game. I have all the KS stuff for it, and feel that the extra enemy types (xenomoths, flingers, seeker worker, etc.) add a lot to the game.

It is definitely different experience than Black Plague.

I have only played Undead or Alive once, but found the mechanics interesting and unique. The board definitely felt smaller in Undead or Alive

I'm looking forward to my Iron Maiden Zombiecide figures arriving from CMON from June onwards.

I might even try to pick up a version of the game to try them out.

Despite owning several versions I've still only played first edition, it's a great game but as I understand it there are better versions.
I backed the Black Plague kickstarter so have that sitting waiting to be opened and am looking at getting the Night of the living dead version.

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

I have Black Plague and Green Horde from the kickstarters.
Black Plague plays more simply than GH, with slightly weaker characters and zombies than in GH.
GH is more brutal, but stronger characters and zombies, and more complex maps and mission options.

I prefer Green Horde for the extra options, such as the drains and hedges. The trebuchet detracts from the mission, slightly spoiling the game a bit. GH has the 'Enter the horde!' function, which is why the trebuchet is there in ther first place.

Of the fantasy versions I have played, Green Horde is my pick of the two.

I only have Invader, and it scratches the Aliens-esque never ending gribbly horde itch with a nice bit of scavenger hunt mechanic in there to keep you on edge. Also it has bad guys called Xenomoths

I've mostly only played the first edition, but the later games definitely have massive improvements. I was just kind of burned out by how much I played before they came along.

I've played a few of the different versions and Black Plague is mu favourite but i do think it's very subjective tbh.

I have 1st Edition plus all its expansions (not the fantasy or sci-fi stuff though).

I saw 2nd Ed much like I presume many X-Wing players saw 2nd Ed X-Wing - just something htat would invalidate their mountain of cards and stat boards - so I gave it a miss.

It really doesn't and is a big upgrade. Ultimately though I didn't upgrade because we just don't play it very often anymore.

We have probably spent the most time with Black Plague. It plays pretty similarly to the original, but some of the designs of the characters are just great, even if a few of the ranged characters (and the items themselves) seem a little overpowered. Love all of the pop-culture references in the characters too, in amongst David Bowie and Sean Connery running around, we had a lot of fun with effectively the cast of Monty Python and the Holy Grail tracking down the giant Mutant rabbit (minotaur-type) monster.

I think they are all fun games though, if you just want something light to play with your mates on a Friday night, even those who don't usually wargame or boardgame, you can't really go far wrong with any of them.

This was my gaming group's hesitation, too (although from others' posting, looks like that may have been unfounded).

It's also a pet peeve of mine when game systems release a bunch of expansions that don't work well together...

Like you and others here, we mostly stuck to the first edition and used it as a casual game night affair. Although being the competitive gamers that we are, it could get intense when one person wanted to play "thematically" while the others wanted to min/max the game to win

I really did like the look of Black Plague, so good to see that one played well!

Zombicide mechanics are pretty much the same set to set, or at least there's not a dramatic difference compared to, say, some FFG game edition changes (eg. Arkham Horror).

My own favorites are the ones I got at the best price. (: Second to that, I like the old west theme and old west miniatures are expensive, so like the Undead or Alive the best!

I really love Black Plague, thematically & mechanically.
The loot hunt & melee focus with armor options sell it for me.
Plus with the KS bonuses, nearly any fantasy favorite is represented.
As a Zombicide 1st edition backer, I felt ZBP refined & refocused the game as well as giving new options, so it wasnt "just" a re-skin theme.
I loved the addition of wolves & crows also.

My group has enjoyed Undead or Alive since I got it as well.
The prevelance of short range pistols & the Class options are interesting tweaks.
My group right now prefer the Wild West theme to the Fantasy theme, so its seeing the table more.
Oh, & the Gatling missions are so fun!

That reminds me that I'd rather like to try out the Night of the Living Dead Zombicide sometime.

- The games all use the same core rules (more or less) but switch up things that change the way the games work tactically.

For example, Green Horde emphasizes a massive mob of orc zombies and Invader aliens can open doors.
