Commander O'Y'he
Shas'O Ad'Emen Kais Y'he-Commander (Shas'O) from the Ad'Emen Sept (Ad'Emen), who is skilled (Kais) and ever-devouring (Y'he)

Born as part of the Fourth Sphere of Expansion, O'Y'he was part of an unsanctioned experiment to improve on the Tau physiology. With the help of Kroot Shapers and Earth Caste Biologists, O'Y'he was one of many Tau born with considerable modifications.
The modifications were, to a degree, a success-these Tau were faster, more coordinated, and tougher. But as they grew on the Expansion vessel, a few problems became apparent-the big one was that O'Y'he and their other modified siblings were constantly hungry. They required several times the caloric intake of other Tau, which wouldn't be an issue if the Expansion ship they were on had ample food supplies. They did not.

The ranking Etheral, Aun'Ui Ad'Emen Bentus, made a tough decision. The modified Tau were reduced by 90%, with the remaining fraction being told that genetic instability had resulted in the painful deaths of their siblings. O'Y'he and the others mourned their loss, not knowing the truth.

On the battlefield, O'Y'he was the Shas'Vre of a team of Crisis Suits piloted by the modified Tau. Due to their enhanced physiology, they were given Flamers and a Thermoneutronic Projector, wielded by O'Y'he. Their excellent reflexes allowed them to work danger-close, and while in time, many of the modified Tau perished, O'Y'he survived to eventually become a Commander of their forces.

O'Y'he now wields an Onager Gauntlet, their old Thermoneutronic, and a few other weapons in their custom-built Enforcer Crisis Suit. They still do not know the truth of their siblings' deaths, and fear the day that their own genetic instability will cause them to falter and die.
Aun'Ben too lives in fear-O'Y'he and their remaining siblings have shown a dangerously independent streak, and should they find out the truth, he knows his own life is forfeit. But with the advancement of O'Y'he and their siblings, he can no longer simply remove them without an issue.
------------------------------------------
A nice little backstory for my Tau Commander. Part of the modification means they're sterile and genderless, so no kids for O'Y'he. No custom rules in use for the moment-just a Precision Of The Hunter Commander in Enforcer Suit and equipped with melee goodies.

I like the idea of the Tau dabbling with biomodification, especially considering their repeated conflict with space marines. A also like that it focuses less on brute strength and more mental performance. Very Tau-like. You could also throw in a little political intrigue. There could be some Tau authorities that have a vested interest in pursuing competing technologies. AI assisted battle suits seem to be the more popular approach. You're super soldiers could have threatened that focus and ended on the wrong side of a downsizing.

Rule-wise you could also represent this with the stimm injectors. If you had a less melee oriented warlord in future games.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Thank you for the kind words and ideas.
Definitely gonna consider that intrigue angle.
