Armageddon Steel Legion – Made to Order coming up!

Sunday Preview – Commander Farsight Takes His Shot at the Arks of Omen

Commissar Yarrick may have gone to join the Emperor’s side, but the loyal Guardsmen of Armageddon are still alive and kicking. For a limited time, you can get your hands on a huge array of classic Steel Legion units on a Made to Order basis, from sword-swinging officers to ranks of disciplined Guardsmen.

If you feel like packing out your platoon with an effective firing line of iconic Imperial firepower, the Steel Legion Platoon is especially apt for the task. A gas-masked Officer leads three lascannon-toting Heavy Weapons Teams and 20 Steel Legion Guardsmen – you’ll want plenty of them to kick Ghazghkull off-world the next time he shows his ugly mug.

Wow this was a surprise! I am so going to be all over this! Like a tramp on chips!

Any idea on costs. I belive the steel legion infantry squad used to be £20. I'm guess somthing like £26 with inflation.

£26, no chance... my guess would be £40.

Well, the prices for whole squads were usually rather modest. You paid through the nose for the single models.

There's one thing bugging me about this, and that's the platoon - GW knows there isn't an independent Officer in the 'dex any more, but they can't put four extra lasgun dudes in there to make a Platoon Command Squad? Or at least give a "buy some more grunts" option so you can make one up?

Considering how many people over the years have insisted that the officer is, in fact, a Commissar that may be the general idea they are expecting people to follow.

In all seriousness, they might release a Legends datasheet for a Steel Legion Commandant profile.

As a steel legion player this is totally unexpected and very much welcome. I know I'll get at least one or two. Steel legion heavy weapon teams, officers, plasma guns, and commissars are almost impossible to come by, at least $50 or so each on ebay.

It's only been a year and a half since Steel Legion infantry squads were sold for 30€... I hope I can resist paying GW's new prices.

Well... The huge platoon was good value and the command squad even a bit cheaper (in €) than before. The single models (officers and special weapons) and heavy weapon teams were indeed obscenely overpriced, all of them between 20 and 30€.

Yeah, I don't need them that much. Especially since I would have to pay more for a 4th infantry squad because GW failed to deliver the last one I ordered.

Probably going to be just as badly priced as other MTOs. Good value on the platoon, and absolute extortion on the singles.

Good spot, HBMC - when I painted him, he had the same boltgun as his base sculpt.

Very exciting, though the price will probably be an instant turn off for me. When they last sold the squad it was 35usd, and I believe the plasmagun was 9usd and the heavy weapons teams were maybe 15usd, just for comparison's sake come saturday. Got to say, I hope to be surprised with the prices, but I have a feeling that I'll be very glad to have bought 3 squads when they went last chance to buy a bit back. If the prices are reasonable I might need to grab a heavy weapons team or two.

Probably not anytime soon, they did them just a couple years ago. I actually *just* finished removing the flash and mold lines from them all last week finally.

That's a conversion from Codex Armageddon that they keep using as the catalogue image.

Apparently they spended him a new arm at some time. Here it's mentioned that he has the same arms as the base sculpt, but in fact the model shown is the same as in the MtO (with less light).

The one on SoL shows a bolt pistol.

I know the model it's based on - the SL Commissar is a resculpt of an existing Commissar - had a boltgun. I have that mini, so I could be confused.

They keep using the conversion to advertise it, but it comes with the skull style mask and bolter.

I have a heavy bolter and a grenade launcher from waaay back in 3rd edition when a friend made an army and had some extras. I could be tempted to get some stuff to finally give these models some friends and maybe even see the table!

Could probably get the platoon, some extra singles, and then round it up to make a 1k points or-so, could be a fun project! Will wait on prices to see if doable

Fantasy armies - Retired (Tomb Kings, Vampires, Empire, Chaos Warriors/Daemons, Dark Elves)

Tyranids army - Ever evolving, but about 10k pts
Custodes - 3,500pts (Fully painted yay!)
Thousand Sons - 4,000 pts
Eldar - 3,000pts
