I welcome everyone to Shades of Greens blog.
My hobby is all about expanding and creating Miniatures concepts and my favourite medium is Greenstuff.
I know sculpting with Greenstuff is becoming a rarity these days but for me its my balance away from all the digital world and computers.

This Blog will be a place where I intend to Sculpt, kitbash and convert minis.

With the new 40k edition Im going to flesh out some Votann robots for my force but Im doing some things for Necromunda and 5parsec from home too.
On the fantasy side I usually do D&D and AoS.

So this is as far as I got with my new Votann robots. I wanted 5 little Regular cogs to help out the Large recon Cog. The big one is specialised in Terrain recon and Mapping which is something an exploring force like Votann would need when landing in a new planet.

Let me know what you think.

They look really good. The little ones look like they are all shouting “Wheeeeeeee”

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

That's some impressive green stuff work, I didn't realise that you could do that sort of hard edge stuff with it

My hobby ADHD, mostly Necromunda, with a splash of regular 40k...

Greenstuff probably not the best for that sort of edges but it can be done, its just a bit more difficult.
You see GS has something we call putty memory, which means if left to dry unattended it will set with rounder and rounder edges.

Yes the old thread is now abandoned into the abyss of the internet, it just had too many images and broken links. Its best to start fresh with a small thread.
Thank you!

Thanks @Boss Salvage

The snakemen I sculpted a while back was sold to a company that has been producing and casting it in a very good quality resin. I got my hands on some of the casts and impressed that this is looking quite close to the original sculpt. This is a big chunky snakeboy but Im currently doing some smaller ones.

These are absolutely incredible Navarro! Saw them on Instagram earlier but honestly top marks. I've got some need of snakey minis at some point for my D&D campaign as it happens.

Thank you guys!

@Olthannon I tried to post my insta reel here but I dont think it can be done, it's shame because I cant share videos. Im working on 3 more snake warriors but this time around small sized that can fit on 30mm bases. Much like the troops for the warband while this one is more the anaconda sized boss. I did another big one, the sorcerer Boss, which I also have casts here so will try to review that one too with another reel.

Your greenstuff work is top notch, you've really nailed the combination of sharp and smooth greenstuff features.

Thank you. I try to make it interesting for when the mini is actually painted, so combining different texture finishes makes it more fun to colour in.

Back from Holidays and Really need to self motivate myself into things and get back on track.

Project V picture, I got all the models I could ever want and plus the Cogs I sculpted. It's just going to be a painting Project from now on. It's one of the rare cases I love the minis just the way they are.... Except Berserker's which I have no idea on how to convert but thats about it.... Ideas welcome.

Hooray! Some more Votann! Can't wait to see how you go! I've been thinking about what to do with the bezerkers too. Kind of want to use some of the old slayer heads.

Those heads would look great for sure. Im so unsure how to handle the berserk kit conversions. No clear idea at all. I want something "industrial".

I need to revamp all my old paints, palletes, brushes, handles etc.
Looking at painting handles and since I want to work 5 minis at the same time I needed 5 units. Online it's just errr too expensive and I searched for cheap alternatives.

Raided my kids toys and stole 5 Nerf shotgun shells. XD

I got some free, confy handles and just the right size for my hands. Win!

Could go with some Kharadon AOS heads or some admech heads or you could use regular Votann but greenstuff some heavy rebreathers or something similar? The universe is your space oyster!

Looking forward to seeing how you paint them up

Cheers @Olthannon. Still not sure about the Zerkers to be honest.

The weather has been great for priming.
So I made all my Votann bases and did the most annoying... thing which was converting 36x 32mm Zone mortalis bases into 28mms... Need to get a shrink ray because this was a major pain in the back.
All bases done and now primed with Wraithbone!
