I’ve got an old school that epic 6mm Eldar army that I’m painting up. Really fun project. But I’m having a problem thinking how to make bases for them. The infantry all came with bases but I’d like to base up some of the smaller vehicles and artillery and GW didn’t make bases for them. Looking on line I’ve found loads of photos of epic armies with bases people have made but I can’t find any information about what they made them from. I thought plasticard would work but I’d like round bases and it’s a nightmare to try and cut circles out of the stuff. Does anybody have any tips for alternatives

Honestly, waaaaay back in the day, I used pennies to base a lot of my epic 40k artillery, etc.

Just try and find something else that costs 1 cent per stand 😆

Thanks. Should say that one thing is that I don’t want bumps around the miniatures on top of the bases. The ones I’m looking at online are nicely leveled off, like the miniatures have been set into the bases. That’s what I’m struggling with

If you want to make a lot of them out of plasticard, get yourself a round punch of the size you want - they're available in all sorts of styles in Arts&Crafts shops or hardware stores.

MDF rounds are easily available just google for them or various plastic bases will do fine

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

MDF! Why didn’t I think think of that/know about these circles already. That seems perfect. Ready made, cheap, no need to work plasticard and can save the plasticard for better things. Brilliant! Thanks so much

Plastic chips and chits of all sort of size and thickness are also available (usually in 1000-count bags and up) from firms that do merchandising products.

Washers and milliput/green stuff/plaster built up enough to just blend with the plug is my usual so far for 28mm and 6mm.
