How do!

Porting over from another thread, as I think that, should it work, this endeavour may be of interest to others.

As someone into general arts and crafts, this month I splashed out on various Cricut Gubbins, including a Maker 3. Once signed up to their creator club thing, I found a pattern for a lantern, which is cut into 2mm chipboard. Needless to say as a Gamer Of A Certain Vintage, I thought back to the plans once published in White Dwarf.

Essentially you photocopied the page, laid it over your plasticard and used pins to mark the corner of each piece. Fine tipped felt pen and judicious use of a steel rule later, the design was transposed. From there, cut out and assemble.

My…my Cricut can do that. And it removes My Rubbish Hands from the equation, as it’s all done digitally.

Blade I need should be arriving tomorrow, which in turn will mean I’m all set to make the lantern, and from there get a solid idea of just what An Idiot With A Cricut can do.

I’ll be posting up the results here, mostly to give myself a new project but also as, should I carry this off, other Dakkanauts may want in on the designs I come up with

I've been considering doing this for a long time, but got into 3d printing instead. I'm very interested to see how this turns out!

I got a Silhouette Cameo 3 a few years ago to make Infinity terrain. It couldn't cut plasticard, but was perfect for scoring the plasticard so you could easily snap it out by hand. Works great for making strips of roofing tiles too, which is normally really tedius
