Hi all,
I was visiting Keene, New Hampshire today and heard that a new Games Workshop store was having a grand opening, so I swung by to see if any special deals or prizes were on offer. But when I got there, instead of the familiar
GW logo, I found
this monstrosity hanging over the storefront:
Inside, the store was packed with Tyranid plushies (I checked, but the Necron plushies were already sold out) and pins of Chaos symbols with smiley faces. There were some "My First Blood Angels Codex"-style children's books, but no rulebooks or black library fiction on the shelves, and there wasn't a single wargaming miniature in the entire store. The manager said this was the dawn of a new "family friendly" era for the company, and seemed very optimistic about it. Then he had to go to the bathroom, so everyone had to wait outside while he temporarily closed the store.
I know a lot of people on these forums saw this coming, but now that it's finally here, I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, "Chaos and Kindness" feels like a complete betrayal of everything that grimdark Warhammer and
WH40K used to stand for. On the other hand, I can't deny that putting a heart inside the letter O in "Chaos" is a masterstroke of graphic design, and an absolutely adorable one at that.
How do you feel about it?
