Wahoo! I'm hyped to be working with Jon Hodgson of Handiwork Games on another round of backdrop books. If you're new to them, they're A4 and A3 sized books that you place behind your minis to help photograph them cool. I use them for 99% of my pics, and have since they first came out. I have a sample book coming any day so you'll see me demonstrating these latest ones.

UPDATE: LIVE NOW!
Launches 19th May, clickie here

from Handiwork Games:
With Trench Crusade Backdrop Books heading out the door this week, we're looking to the next round of Backdrop Books releases!

We've been hard at working ensuring we have 4 fully-completed, ready to go books for our next round of Backdrop Books.

These will be:

More Fantasy - the first Backdrop Book which featured fantasy themed landscapes is our best selling title across everything we do, so it's about time we did MORE FANTASY! This is a lovely selection of new fantasy paintings.

Sci-Fi Cityscapes - focusing on urban sci-fi settings, this book presents a variety of vistas from a sprawling sci-fi city.

Horror and Hellscapes brings you a series of sinister, spooky and gothic images for all your investigators, vampires, ghouls and other anti-social denizens.

Robot Future is designed to show off your robot models with zoom lines and suitably techy looking backdrops.

Stay tuned to see both me and Jon mucking about with them and more pics of what is inside.

Which is intriguing you the most? For me personally - HORROR (as that's what I mostly paint) and for my Bad Squiddo use it's MORE FANTASY as they're some of my favourites.

Quick Q, Annie - are the prices for individual books going to be around the same as in your shop, so £20 for an A4 book and £40 for an A3 book?

There's a little competition over on bluesky. Apologies for my gurning face, it's the only thing to social media algorithm seems to show anyone.

You just need at least one Bad Squiddo mini and a previous Jon Hodgson book, and some means of taking a photo. It's only on bluesky as going cross platform was looking a bit nightmarish (and not in a good turkey man way)

link to the post is here

Jon himself has been playing with the new books, here are some of his photos, Bad Squiddo minis of course, as they're the best

I think I am gonna get a HUGE amount of uses from this wood backdrop. It's gonna fit pretty much all my WW2 and the horror - my two favourite genres. Fits everything though

Some more Sci Fi, more working and alive town rather than ruins

Robots!

and of course, I have started my play around as I have the sampler book!

Thanks Mark! Myself and Jon do get carried away though, I'm trying to keep to some fairly simple shots to not scare people off, but it really is fun. I've been doing a bunch this afternoon and I have to pace out showing you all, but I just want to be all "Look! It so cool!". It's been relaxing doing the promo as it's a great excuse to muck about with my minis and terrain.

I've made a couple top tip videos across social media which people have been liking, so they're on youtube so I can link em here

Here is how to prop up the books with an IKEA HACK

And how raising the mini a tad makes a mega difference,

And I raised this lady from the dead, and got to use the Renedra ramshackle house!

Also some photos of Robot Future he's taken using Knucklebones Miniatures

and showing how he achieved this

I don't have much in the way of robots but I'm going to have a play around with this book to use it in some more unconventional ways!
