Here it is....(added drop pods) Heavy Whirlwind = 85 Whirlwind = 85 HQ Librarian , Bolt Pistol, Fury of the Salamander = 125 Elites Venerable Dread, Multi Melta, Heavy Flamer, Smoke, Searchlight = 149 Drop Pod = 30 5 Terminators, 2 Heavy Flamers = 220 Troops 5 Marines, Missile Launcher = 85 5 Marines, Missile Launcher = 85 10 Man Tac Squad, 2 Meltas, Vet + Powerfist = 205 Drop Pod = 30 10 Man Tac Squad, 2 Meltas, Vet + Powerfist = 205 Drop Pod = 30 Fast Attack Land Speeder w Multimelta and Heavy Flamer = 75 8 Assault Marines, 2 Flamers, Vet and Powerfist, Teleport Homer = 223 So I replaced Rhinos (mobile coffins) with drop pods and saved a bunch of points. Very Fluffy, lots of Meltas/Flamers. Fragile as hell though but I am sure the pods will help. Libby casting fury out of sight and the whirlwind out of LOS are always a pain. 5 man missile squads are cheap anti armour, always make their points back. Only thing I am afraid of is a Monolith. What do you guys think?

Heavy Whirlwind = 85 Whirlwind = 85
HQ Librarian , Bolt Pistol, Fury of the Salamander = 125
Elites Venerable Dread, Multi Melta, Heavy Flamer, Smoke, Searchlight = 149 Drop Pod = 30
5 Terminators, 2 Heavy Flamers = 220
Troops
5 Marines, Missile Launcher = 85 5 Marines, Missile Launcher = 85 10 Man Tac Squad, 2 Meltas, Vet + Powerfist = 205 Drop Pod = 30 10 Man Tac Squad, 2 Meltas, Vet + Powerfist = 205 Drop Pod = 30
Fast Attack Land Speeder w Multimelta and Heavy Flamer = 75 8 Assault Marines, 2 Flamers, Vet and Powerfist, Teleport Homer = 223
My only critique is that some of those Power Fists should be Thunder Hammers! A poor use of points, but looks as fluffy as heck on Salamanders...maybe make the two missile launcher squads Scouts and cut the flamer from the Landspeeder?
Respect for taking heavy flamers on the Terminators. A clear concession to fluff over power. One other idea (though more costly in terms of points) could be to take them as a Terminator Assault squad with Furious Charge and two Thunder Hammers...find the points for an LRC and you have a fun little steamroller unit.

Thanks for making the list clear, my Mac must use a different script and I am computer illiterate. I don't really see scouts as fluffy. 5 man missile squads have served me well. The heavy flamer on the Land Speeder is something I always seem to miss when I don't take it and always makes its 10 points back. There aren't really any areas I can find points unless I want to drastically change the style of the army. There are only 10 scoring units in this list. 4 are my firebase and the assault aspect of the army is going to have its hands full. Hard to find points in this list. LRC are just too fragile to melta weaponry, the reason i have 2 squads with 2 melta guns deep striking in pods is to take out those kind of tanks.

HQ Librarian , Bolt Pistol, Fury of the Salamander = 125
This guy adds up to 120 points as listed. I'd consider getting another 5 points for a combat shield so you atleast have some invuln protection in close combat. Terminator armor would be even better as then you could teleport in and set up firing lanes for your FotA. Elites Fluffy choices. I'd try to get a drop pod for those terminators or some more teleport homers. You have no real flexibility when only one unit has the homer. For some points savings, you could turn the terminators into a retinue for a terminator librarian. 10 Man Tac Squad, 2 Meltas, Vet + Powerfist = 205 Drop Pod = 30 10 Man Tac Squad, 2 Meltas, Vet + Powerfist = 205 Drop Pod = 30
I'd drop these to 8 man squads and invest those points into the suggestions above. Alternately, if you did turn those terminators into a command squad, you'd have enough points for another whirlwind. Whirlwind = 85 Whirlwind = 85
This isn't very fluffy compared to the rest of the list but that isn't really an issue I'd lose sleep over. I do think 3 would be the most effective way to go IMHO.

Librarian 115 points Fury = 9 Bolt Pistol = 1 125
Its fluffy to have 5 or 10 man squads as in rouge trader Marine squads of 10 would split into 2 units. Maxing out 3 slots in the same FOC seems kinda power gamey. 2 Whirlwinds should be enough. Incase I decide I want my terminators on the board before the game starts I can deploy them as normal, giving them a drop pod takes them out until turn 2 at the earliest. I took out the Land Speeder Heavy Flamer and gave the 2 Tac Squads in pods homers. There really isn't a fluffy heavy support choice anymore, now that I can't replace Predator Heavy Bolter Sponsons with Heavy Flamers. With this list I have 2 Whirlwinds out of sight and a Librarian causing pinning and moral checks. I have 2 Tac Squads set up as anti armour. Everything else deep strikes or moves into position.

Fury = 9
Fury is 3 points unless you take it as a second power (so it'd be 119, my bad). Its fluffy to have 5 or 10 man squads as in rouge trader Marine squads of 10 would split into 2 units.
This isn't rogue trader, its 4ed. To each his own though. You asked for advice and that's what I'd do. There really isn't a fluffy heavy support choice anymore, now that I can't replace Predator Heavy Bolter Sponsons with Heavy Flamers.
Well, Salamanders do have more % devestators then most chapters (3 out of 12 squads in battle companies, 6 of 12 in reserve companies). That would be the most fluffy choice IMHO but i wouldn't slight someone who didn't use them. Salamanders do have whirlwinds, pred variants and land raiders. I'd still try and get an invulnerable save of some kind on that librarian. You don't want him just cowering in a corner and quite frankly the corner is often times a horrible place to try and use fury from. That is why I suggested the terminator command squad so he can always DS when needed and has an easier time putting that force sword to some use.

Vindicators are very fluffy for Salamanders, being a close support tank (though if they could take Baal's I'd have three right now).
IIRC, the original IA article for Whirlwinds indicated that the Sallies were the first marine chapter to use them.

You know what, I think you're right. Just another reason why I never shove my views of the fluff down other peoples throats. I can't possibly know or remember it all...
