Subject: Exorcists and allied marines?

Hi, The WH codex says that you may not take allied space marine units if your army contains adeptus sororitas units. While most other SoB units have the adpetus sororitas special rule, the exorcist tank does not. Does that mean I can combine exorcists with allied space marine units? Thanks all!

Does not the Exorcist itself include a rule that it cannot be taken unless sororitas units are also taken? Or is that only for the immy?

i would say no you cant as in the exorcist army list entry it says it is crewed by battle sisters which would make it a adetus sororitas tank.

Fluff argument. Disclaimer: I do not have the now disappeared WH FAQ. Geek, feel free to take the Tank. The words Adeptus Sororitas cannot be found anywhere in the entry, so it's fair game.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias |

The WH codex says that you may not take allied space marine units if your army contains adeptus sororitas units
Adeptus Soritas units are defined on page 18 of the WH book. However, I dont have my book with me to tell you what, if any, rules exorcists have. Further more: Your a marine player! You have a ton of options! Go play with your own tanks and keep your grubby hands off ours.

I knew there was a reason I brought my codex to work today. OK, the Exorcist is tricky. In the wargear section, for vehicle upgrades, there are upgrades only available to Adepta Sororitas Vehicles(Blessed Ammo, Holy Icon, Laud Hailers). Just so happens the Exorcist's listing has all 3 available as upgrades. I would say it does qualify as a AS unit, especially fluffwise. On the other hand, the Codex entries also make specific mention of what has the Adepta Sororitas special rules and vehicles are not mentioned. Answer cloudy, ask again later.

Its not cloudy at all. CHimeras and Landraiders, which you can also take, I dont believe fall under the 'adepta sororitas vehical' rules for those upgrades(neither would inducted guard sentinals nor leman russ). Codex is very specific about what is a adepta sororitas. Page 18 spells it out.
