I'm building up a 1000pts Lizardmen army, and I'm pretty happy with what I've come up with, but I have one question. Should one of my regimants with Saurus Warriors have spears or should both have hand weapons. Are the spears worth the extra points? 

Spears are worth it! They're a cheap way to get double the attacks. The only reson not to get them is if A) You can take something better or B) The unit is so freakin' unstoppable already that it doesn't need the extra advantage. Spears often tip the balance in you're favor. Good Luck!

My friend plays lizardmen and he ALWAYS takes spears for ALL his units and i must say it is a must to have aleast some spears in your army

speaking from someone who has used the Lizzies for years i would generally say no. The extra bonues of Hand weapon and shield is more then enough for these guys. With 11 attacks up front most of the time your real concern shoudl be defense as they only have a WS of 3. Definately just go with the mark of extra armor saze if you want to upgrade em, or make them immune to psych, everything else is just taking up space.
