I know that the new eldar codex is but a couple months away. That being said, I am still over-joyed at the prospect of playing eldar for the first time. I have many eldar figures I have collected either though bulk-trades or simply because I thought the model was cool.

I know that it is too early for me to start asking advice, as no one here owns the codex, however, with all the rumors floating around it might be safe to make a few suggestions. What do you think would go well with what I have in my closet? I have:

Avatar

10 striking scorpions, exarch with a scorpions claw.

10 Wraithguard

a number of old or converted harlquin models including a great harlequin, 6 deathjesters, shadowseer, solatair, ect.

Enough bits to make 20 Storm Guardians

Enough bits to make either 20 Guardian Defenders or Dire Avengers ( I can scratch-build a weapons platform).

8 jetbikes, two with shurikan Cannons

vyper with shurikan cannon

two wraithlords with starcannons.

I am thinking of getting an autarch with a warp-spider jump generator and a firepike ( if the rumors are correct),  a fire-prism, and a wave serpent for the striking scorpions.

Would this be an okay army list?

I think that it might be lacking a little in the Eldar's signature Speed Department, but what it lacks in speed it makes up for in durability. Maybe not though, as I just noticed the Wave Se3rpent at the bottom of the list...

I think that it would be a fun list to use, and is varied enough to be interesting and tactically flexible. Maybe I'm not the best person to ask since I don't optimize everything out the yin-yang though, so it depends on your style of play.

As far as your Autarch goes, the Autarch is not supposed to be allowed access to Exarch wargear. So the best you can hope for on that score would be a Fusion Gun.

Well, I pointed everything up with the current codex. I can use a couple of the Harlequins as warlocks, and put the rest on the shelf. That being said I will have room in a 2,000 point game to include a decent wave serpent and, I'm betting, a kitted out autarch. Of course since points values are changing (wraithlords and avatar going up, jetbikes and weapons costs going down) I might have room to throw in a dozen or so extra guys with some goodies.

What would you consider more effective in my collection, 8 Dire avengers with an exarch, or 10 Gaurdian Defenders with a Scatter laser?

Hmm. When it comes to it, the guardians are effective only because of their scatter laser. Their 12" range is goig to hamper them some, and a weapon platform means they can't fleet. If you do bring the guardians up to actually use their catapults, no doubt they get assaulted and most likley mowed under.

The 8 avengers with their improved catapults and the rumored new defend power and a shimmershield (5- Inv save for the whole squad) could do well at range and in decent in assault. Well, maybe not decent, but they will stick around a lot longer than guardians. I keep picturing your main opponent as MEQ, though, your mileage may vary.
They would do better against Guard, Orks (at least thier shooting would), Nids, and Tau.

The Falcon or Serpent of Fury would be a fun thing to try with the Avengers. If you use your 18" range well, the retaliation fire may not be that bad.

Well, I was game theorizing. My plan is to use the Wraithgaurd as a slow moving wall, killing anything in their path with ther shooting. I will support this on their sides with the wraithlords (getting triple-duty with the wraithguards' worlock) and the Avatar.

I will have two squads of 15 storm guardians fleeting forward to act as a speed-bump for dangerous units I don't want to deal with or to wipe-out pesky little annoyance squads.

The wave serpent (scorpions inside) will dash around the flanks with the Vyper and jetbikes to take care of indirect fire vehicles or heavy-weapons squads.

I will then have two small-ish squads of defenders used as medium ranged fire support following behind the wraithguard and wraithlords.

My jump-generator Autarch will just try to pop units of opportunity like muli-wound creatures or vehicles. Of course he will be sneeky by never being the closest enemy unit.
