Amongst the Stars, In the Night

Nice, thanks for the link derflaM. One year I'd like to actually make it to GenCon or Origins, even both! I always miss out on em, though perhaps it's the overabundance of costumed hambeasts that frighten me... then again, I could just show up in my mult-tentacled horror get up and let the fun begin.

Ahem... anyhow, I was browsing through the pianting contest and noticed a couple figs I can't seem to place who makes 'em and I was hoping my fellow Dakkites would asist in identifying them. So what choo say? Anybody know who makes these figs:

Shadow Dragon An awesome blended paintjob would make this dragon...
Tree Nymph This isn't a Shadowforge sculpt... is it?!? (I don't think it is...)

Nyarly: I have permission from the boss to attend the con for four full days
next year. Don't know if I WILL go for four days, but the option is there.

Ah, She Who Must Be Obeyed! I haven't got one of those, seems the tentacles scares 'em off before we get to the ceremony part. For me, my master is the hated dollar (or, should I say, the scarcity of it).

Hmmm.. so anybody have any info on who makes those two figures linked in my previous post?

Standing outside Jester's house demanding the things he took from my underwear drawer.

Nyarly, I don't remember who made those two minis, I'll have to ask around.

Malf, I usually only go for Friday and Saturday as that's when most of the special events are going on.  I've been told, and will probably try it next year, that Thursday is great because the booths aren't that busy so you can take your time demoing or checking out their wares.

Each head in that arena was a Q-tip dipped in different color paint. There were easily 1000-2000 Q-tips there.

I've been going to Gen-Con for almost a decade and I always have a blast. Indianapolis is easy to get to, has plenty of places to stay/eat, and downtown really embraces the event. Every time I go I find it hard to believe that GW doesn't at least take a half dozen tables and a few starter sets to promote themselves.

The costume contest is usually one of the biggest attended events of the entire con. Truthfully, not that Big of a percentage of people show up in costume when you figure that over 100,000 attend.

This table from the Croc was cool.

Dark Age Minis kill me. About 4 years ago they were one of the top 3-4 in booth size. They must have had some killer financial baking. This year they were in the smallest booth available with one or two people in it. Game companies, be forewarned, it can all drop out from under you in no time. Just ask Decipher, they weren't even there this year and a few yaers ago they were the second biggest attendee..........

I've seen the Reaper Exarch with both weapon options and both look like things you can buy in sex shops. A weapon should not look like this, not even a Emperor's Children weapon. -Symbio Joe

The thing is, I think the badges are single day or four day. I would probably get
the four day badge, do the vendor walkabout on Thursday, do events on Friday
Saturday, and drive home Sunday.

The more I talk about it the more definite it sounds...
