@Bahkara, You better play in the RTT. As the guy who won the last RTT at Strategicon, this is you title to defend. You better give me the opportunity to beat you.

100% sure

I dont know. I was there last time and he won by the skin of his teeth. He may not want to chance his title, as a second lucky break isnt that likely

Luck is a big part of winning an RTT, mainly in who your first opponent is and scenarios. My first and last game I won by the skin of my teeth. 2nd game wasn't as tough.

Having won every type of RTT awards (even some of the made up ones) I know longer feel the pressure to play. Besides, I won the Gamex RTT so this is really the title I have to defend. This is a different one so i am not defending my title. I'll most likely play as I do not really care for Warmachine and the historical people frighten me

Hey congratulations Darrian, i heard you won the GE RTT! well done. Wish i coul dhave been there, and it looks like ill miss stratigicon as well for a going away party for a best friend here, but i wish you guys well in that RTT, too.

Damn, from what i gathered the OC/LA guys put a smack down on the SD boys. I hope they come to stratigicon and earn some of the self respect back!

Anyway, wanted to say congrats.

Thanks Reecius. I had an amazing time, Game Empire RTT's are simply the best. I drive over 2 hours each way to play and it is well worth it. I got to play against Aaron's Soul Drinkers and John C's Deathwing and SP Musubi's (borrowed) Crimson Fist's. All 3 of the games were close and could have gone either way. More importantly, all 3 games were very fun. I can't wait to make the next RTT at GE.

I made the mistake of listening to Darrian.

I brought my Godzilla nids down to San Diego at his urging. (I wanted to play Demonhunters or LatD)

I ended up crushing 3 guys, and the games were not much fun for me or my opponents. I like a challenge when I play and that army plays itself. Only eldar come close to being able to beat it.

I am going to blow the dust of of my Thousand Sons for Gamex.

Hello Bitter, party of one, your table is ready.

Allan/Blackmoor is the only guy I know who goes 3-0 at a tough RTT and complains.
I'd like to point out that he went 2-1 last time with his Word Bearers and complained about that RTT too.
I am beginning to see a pattern here.

Conversely, I had 3 incredible games against 3 very fun opponents and I got 10 more sportsmanship points than you did. Maybe you need to be nicer to people, smile more. Tell some jokes or something.  Don't take the games so seriously, it is not all about winning or losing.

Congrats on the win Darrian!  Remind me next time to slow down a bit and not rush at you, and I can probably give you a better game rather then trying to get the hostage back at all costs!

I'm just glad I faced the Genestealer army round 1 and not round 2 where they were moving 24" across the table!

I was tanked in all of my soft scores because of my army. I told you that the 3 games I played were not fun for me or my opponents, so that explains my sportsmanship scores.  And I also know that for some reason no one ever thinks of marines as cheesy, only armies that can kill marines are. You brought what 15 assault cannons? And no one batted an eye.

And I did not complain about anything at the last RTT. I just pointed out that you played the ringer army in round one, and you tied a newbie in round 2. >

Someone didnt get clocked for taking max assult cannons. how did that happen?
I would have figured he was toast in soft scores for that.

all my buddies said they had fun playing darrian. And he played an assault cannon heavy army himself, plus an all drop pod SM list, so the cheese was flying in both directions.

@Cypher, Game Empire has a reputation of having players with "hard" lists, and this particular RTT was heavily hyped so everyone knew the lists would be brutal. There was some cross-countys rivalry involved so there was even more fuel for the fire. Despite all the cheese, i am sure that everyone (except Blackmoor) had a great time.

BTW, 13 assault cannons is by no means maximum.

Congrats, Darrian. What did you bring?

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

Darrian, was that an RTT that happened this past weekend? My roommate (Phoenix) was saying you may show up at a game store in Torrance...was looking forward to meeting you. Maybe next time, or at the con eh?

@Lormax Yes this was the RTT last weekend in San Diego.

I will definitely be at Strategicon supporting Cliff and Game Empire, they are running the GW events. I am not sure I am playing my Luna Wolves though. I might play my Black Legion instead. Sorry I could not make it to 3rd Planet on Sunday, I took my girlfriend to the beach instead.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

The problem was that I did not face any of the hard lists.

Game #1. I played against an Ultramarine army that had 26 terminators (5 in a command squad and 3x7 for the elites) it was not as hard as it sounds; Darrian's list is much harder. I wiped him out in 5 turns.
Game #2 vs. Thousand Sons. He had one unit left on turn 4 and conceded.
Game #3, vs. Necrons, he conceded at the top of turn #2.

Oh, I would like to say that Darrian is a fun guy to play. He deserves his high sportsmanship scores.

I had less than 4 hours of sleep, was sick, and fought 3 hours of rush hour traffic so I deserve my sportsmanship scores. (Also I am a lot livelier when I play someone I know, instead of someone new)

But I am puzzled by the paint scores.

Congrats Allan for winning Overall with his thousand sons

Darrian and Allan had a final clash of the titans match to determine who would be top dog. If Darrain had won the match he would have won best overall with( he ended up with and 88 with 2 wins and a lose which is nothing to scoff at ) 98-99 depending on how generous Allan was feeling on soft scores.

Thank you Cliff and Shane for running a great event, 26 players ! Hopefully the next one will be twice as big.

The new terrain went over well, i'm sure more adjustments in the future will polish the over all effect and results.

Well as you'll find out when Shane posts the results of the RT i only missed winning over all by 4 points ( or if darrian would have beaten allan it would have been 2 points ;p )

Allan won best over all with his thousand sons with a whopping 100 pts( New RT High) !
Chris won best sportsman with his marines ( i think this is his 8th BSM sofar )
Verin(sp?) won best overall army with a gorgeous Feral ork army(Ginormous Squigoths and everything).
And i won :: shock :: best painted with 96 points , i have the second highest point total and almost lost best painted to 14 year old Alex's IG( Battle points was the determining factor).

I Played Alex's IG round 1 and drew
Round 2 i played Rick's nurgle army and won
Round 3 i played a MEQ i gaurd list and won
Every game was very close

Here's the silly list that i brought that should not have done so well

Congratulations to Allan!

He, once again, proved why he is such a good player. He won with 1000 Sons, and everyone knows 1000 Sons are soft, right? Well I played against him in the third round with the championship on the line and he shot my army off the table. The "soft" 1000 Sons outshot my army, and my army had 12 assault cannons, 4 heavy bolters and 16 storm bolters and 4 meltas and 2 plasma guns and 12 bolters. Freakin' amazing! Besides the fact that I lost, it was a great game.
