Emperor's Talon Recon Team and IG Infantry Company (NO PICTURES)

Sorry, I felt a disclaimer was in order. I called GW today, and after the guy on the other end understood what I was saying (though what his issue was, I have no idea), I asked what the contents of these two items was. Here you go:

Emperor's Talon $175

3 Sentinels

3 Cadian Sentinels

4 Armageddon Sentinels

Vehicle Upgrade Sprue

IG Infantry Company $350

120 Cadian Shock Troops

36 Special Weapons

18 Heavy Weapons Teams

2 Lieutenants

Command Squad

How cool is all that? Sorry if this is repeat info, I could not find the answer to this ANYWHERE. Also, on another note, what do you all think of the "eerie" and breathy voice that tells you about the deals when you call GW Mail Order? I already told one of the guys how dumb and annoying it was, but maybe I'm alone. *shrug*

36 special weapons? If true, that's 18 blisters are $10 a piece, which is an incredible deal. Maybe they really want people to start IG armies....

I am sorely tempted on the IG company.

But then reality kicks in and tells me I would never paint that many guardsmen ever again in my life. NEVER.

But then again, it is a reallt incredible deal. Seriously. $683USD retail for $350 isnt bad at all.

If youre going to ever start an infanrty company with the stuff you need, this really is THE time to do it.

as for the emperors talon sentinel stuff....not so huge of a deal. I say this because I bought my 12 sentinels for $150 (after a small discount) for 4 boxes of catachan sentinel squad boxes which had three to a box.

Indeed, these are better because you get the extra jink of the armageddon and cadian patterns offers...but this is a bit of a deal that looks and acts like a deal, but really isnt such a nice deal.

I guess if you wanted all of these and were to buy them seperately, it might be a deal, but any guard player worth their salt has numerous weapons to convert their sentinels appropriately without spending extra dough.

Emperors Talon is "Meh".

What? Even 10 NORMAL Sentinels, with nothing, at 20% off (a fairly common discount) is $200. For 25 dollars less I can get all those metal pieces? That's a steal.

I'm getting at least one Emperor's Talon - maybe two. Three? Hmm, that might be pushing it too much.

Any word yet if they're release Chimera 3 to a box? It would be nice to mechanize my Guard.

Scotty: Only if you were ever going to buy that many Sentinels in the first place

Remember, sales don't save you money unless it's something you would have bought, or
if it's something you're buying in place of something else.

So if you're going to buy the new IG box INSTEAD of building that Eldar army you've
been dreaming of, then these deals are awesome.

If you're just going to add another 300 dollars on your credit card...

...

Knowing all this, I'm still tempted. But I know I won't paint it/play it since I'm
involved so much in other games/projects. Makes me wish I were starting out
the hobby rather than being where I am now.

How many of those special weapons are grenade launchers.....

but still, that is a hell of a deal. I wish they offered it in catachans too, i would pick one up for my IG army.

Of course the infantry company comes out right after I finished collecting the models for 2500 points of guard. D'oh!

I wonder if the 36 special weapons are lead figures or just the plastic flamers and grenade launchers on the sprue. The two LTs and Command squad are metal, so there is metal in this deal. I"m really tempted to get this.

If the special weapons are the metal ones, then it's 18 Plasmas and 18 Meltas. I don't really know of anyone who needs 18 Plasmas.

And it's stupid. I have close to 400 Guard Infantry, yet I still want this Company Box. What's wrong with me...

Those are some sweet deals, but I jsut dropped $380 on the new chaos boxed armies.
