I've done it, had it done TO me or seen it done in friendly games in 2 different states and numerous RTT's at GW stores and LGS's. Nobody has ever questioned it.
In one of the friendly games I saw it done in, it was done by a GW staffer (not that they're perfect).

Also note that with an LRC (same wording as the CLR) it can carry 15 models.
