impact hits & multiple units

When a chariot charge results in its hitting two different enemy units simultaneously, how do you do the impact hits?
A. Does each enemy unit get a separate d6' worth?
B. Do you only roll for the unit that was the declared target?
C. Do you roll 1d6, and then roll to randomize between the two units in contact?
D. Is there some other way entirely?

Thanks. Any rule page numbers, or Errata/FAQ references I can show my opponents?

I had to listen to a great deal of whining about how giving a separate d6 to each unit made my model twice as good as a 'normal' unit.

impact hits & multiple units

Rulebook page 63: "When a chariot charges a unit, it causes D6 hits with its own strength. The number of hits is increased by +1 if the chariot is equipped with scythed wheels."

Once you've established that you have successfully charged both units--most of which can be blamed on the sloppiness of your opponents anyway--you have no choice but to allocate D6 (or D6+1) impact his to each unit. The rules don't provide any other means of resolving the situation.

impact hits & multiple units

Well, my opponent argued that the rules say I was only charging one unit, and the other was just 'contacted'. He also pulled the 'the rules don't explicitly say you can' argument.

But I think there is a consensus, both here and on warhammer.org, that due to the rules on p. 64 (where a chariot pursues/overruns into a fresh enemy, doing impact hits- and is then charged in the front my another enemy unit- so that unit [i]also[i/] takes impact hits), my opponent was in fact wrong.

Now for the kicker: it wasn't a chariot doing the impact hits, it was a Steam Tank. Anybody want to argue that things are different? If so, please lay out your reasoning.

bigchris1313 wrote:How about asking how you can initiate combat other than by charging.

My thoughts exactly.

I think A must be right, and that is quite impressive. Also, clipping both units waaaay cuts down on possible return attaks, which is just extra punishment for your opponent lining those units up so close ...

- Salvage
