Characters on bikes joining units

An easy one:
Is an IC on bike allowed to join a unit without bikes?

If so, what about a bike-character joining jump-infanery?

Is there any restriction of joining units for ICs?
I didn't find any, so i assume it works.
What do you think?

Don't forget the squad is limited to the slowest unit. So no turbo boosting to go around terrain, you still only go 12" with the jump packers. And if your a warboss with stormboys and you want them to get the extra movement you need to turboboost and give up your shooting, and you still only go 12+1d6.

I'm curious though.. how would you handle difficult terrain if the bike were to drive through it and the jump infantry were to pop over it? The obvious answer would be to take a single dangerous terrain test on the bike and the bike alone.. but then you essentially have two different members of the same squad using different movement modes. Is that ok? (No book on me to check rules wordings.)

What would you do to assault through difficult terrain? Take a difficult terrain test as per the jump infantry, and the whole squad moves at this rate of course.. but still a dangerous terrain test for the bike?

if it really came to that you could just seperate the warboss during that movement turn and move around the rock.. move the stormboyz infront and then declare your shooting/assault

that way they could fire on the same squad and assault it together

ind. characters count seperate in assault anyway so it is basically the same. I do this all the time

can't shoot at the warboss if there are units nearer anyway so having him IN the squad isn't that big of an advantage.

NaZ
