				<title>Need some help with Hordes of Chaos</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ So i have been playing <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> for a year know and my wife and sister just got into fantasy (they both like <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(138);'>VC</span>) and so since my wife is playing that means i get to play <img src="/s/i/a/c944477abc92c1c101da485e07ff06d8.gif" border="0">.  I looked over the armies and the hordes of chaos have the best looking models <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(72);'>IMO</span>.  Which is funny cause in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> I play a grey knight army bent on destroying the forces of chaos <img src="/s/i/a/8f7b3f87df347f2cf6c1e7d5e119a067.gif" border="0">.  So as i have looked over the fourms at the chaos lists it seems that chosen knights and maurders on horses with fails are mandatory.  Same with warhounds.  Right now i have a sorcerer on a horse and 12 warriors with 2 hand weapons and 5 with shields and a hand weapon (&lt;-- those were put together before i got them).<br /> <br /> So are two hand weapons the way to go?  I just put them together that way cause they looked better than with the shield<br /> <br /> Are warriors a point sink? Im used to being out numbered. With grey knights i was constantly outnumberd 2 to 1 or more<br /> <br /> What are the pros and cons of each mark? Or just go undivided<br /> <br /> Demonettes seem to be the best pick for summoned demons. Yes? No? <br /> <br /> What about greater demons?  <br /> <br /> Now I know this is alot of questions but i have always been given great advice on dakka so i thought i would ask here first.  Also i cant get the dex for another 2 weeks. <img src="/s/i/a/dec8d79950a36218cfae9200a43fa59f.gif" border="0"> and i heard they are doing a new one soon so i dont know if i want to buy it till then.  <br /> <br /> Thanks again]]></description>

				<title>Need some help with Hordes of Chaos</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Take all this as coming from a Dwarf player- i.e. someone might have some better info to get you started.  Also, how deep you get is really going to depend on how competitive you plan to be.  If I was playing my wife and sister, I'd probably just take the things I really like the looks of.<br /> <br /> There's some who advocate for Chaos warriors- and I certainly love the models, but I think they're regarded as not the strongest entry in the book.<br /> <br /> How you equip them- my instinct is that <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(59);'>HW</span>, shield is a good route to protect an already fairly expensive investment.  With your <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(149);'>WS</span>, S, and I you can still deal an okay amount of damage but your investment is fairly protected.  Also, remember that the unit really only needs a majority with a particular weapon-type, so don't feel like your shield guys are wasted if you decided to go 2 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(59);'>HW</span>.<br /> <br /> With marks- Undivided is a fairly solid choice.  Khorne is tough because it lets you be led around by more maneuverable armies even though your killy-ness is boosted.  Nurgle grants fear, but it's hard to take advantage of it with the typically smaller unit size on warriors.  Slaanesh is solid, and will keep you from breaking prior to getting stuck in- but restricts your ability to flee a charge.  And Tzeentch really only applies if you're going the magic user route.<br /> <br /> Greater demons can fit in, and flying ones benefit greatly from their ability to go all over.  I'd hold off here till you figure out what you want as a whole and maybe till you see what the new book is like...<br /> <br /> The new book coming out is Demon specific- I'm not sure if there's info on the ground about how it will or will not mesh with the existing Hordes book.  If you want to play it really safe, you can avoid demons in the meantime.<br /> <br /> That's it- I'm no expert, so hopefully someone can come along and set you straight where I may have misled you (unintentionally, of course!).<br /> <br /> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(314);'>RZ</span>]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Allrighty, here's my 2 cents:<br /> <br /> Chaos warriors overcosted/pointsink? Yes, they sure are. If you want hard hitters, knights are certainly a better option. Altough I suppose you could do worse than taking small unit of chosen warriors with shields & halberds/<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>gw</span>'s. Don't bother with xtra hand weapons as they are expensive and s4 doesn't hurt stuff nicely enough. Just don't spend too much points on these.<br /> <br /> Regarding marks (to warriors and others in general too).<br /> Undiv. - Good psychology boost, oftentimes better than Tzeentch and Nurgle for example.<br /> Slaneesh - Makes guys very reliable (mainly due immune to fear-autobreaks), altough this mark is usually taken in order to get rapturous standard or to enable getting slaneeshi characters.<br /> Khorne - More Fighty altough frenzy has it's downsides too. Certainly worth it in many occasions<br /> Tzeentch & Nurgle - Unless you want to accomplish theme etc., don't bother<br /> <br /> With characters, knights and warriors all the upper three marks work nicely, altough with chariots the best choice is clearly the plain undivided.<br /> <br /> Regarding daemons, I take that you noticed that they aren't summoned in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(147);'>whfb</span> and they'll start on table just as anybody else. About the usefulness of these guys, the main <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(309);'>rnf</span> daemons aren't very good but the supporting daemons work very well with mortals (they are actually almos mandatory in many situtaions). Namely the furies, screamers, fleshound and mounted daemonettes (from <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(143);'>WD</span>/<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(651);'>SoC</span>) are best of the bunch. Greater daemons won't work very well in mixed chaos lists as they have poor protection and cost a ton. It's also important to notice that the daemons will get a new armybook later in the spring which may or may not change things daemonic for <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(147);'>whfb</span> hordes a bit.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I would say that Warriors are indeed a point sink. Any points spent on them are better spent on Chaos Knights, as guards for units or stand alone core choices. Small units with the mark of Khorne  are surprisingly good investments, as you get dispel dice and combat monster unit from frenzied mount attacks.  Large units function better without assistance, but you are likely to be baited more often.  <br /> <br /> Warhounds may be a wasted investment vs undead due to their leadership. Useful verus many other armies however.<br /> <br /> Mark of Slaanesh is great for wizards, as it opens up an amazing spell lore that can make or break games.  It also is a decent mark to give a large unit of chaos knights due to the Rapturous Standard, which makes their <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(149);'>WS</span> unapproachable by many units.<br /> I don't like the mark of Nurgle much, except for beasts.<br /> Tzch mark is best given to chariots as a good way to generate magic dice. Chariots dont benefit from other marks very efficiently.<br /> Khorne is a great mark for a few units of knights to add punch and magic defense.  Also, you become immune to fear which will help greatly when coordinating charges (they have low leadership and could fail fear checks).<br /> <br /> Mounted Daemonettes are very useful, although its been so long since I've played they may no longer be viable. Furies are a great deamon unit, because they eat a lot of artillery units and are resilient to common artillery defenses. I wouldn't touch the other deamons.<br /> <br /> I don't like the greater deamons very much. The keeper of secrets appeals most to me due to high combat abilites, coupled with great magic and excellent movement. However, a low save and high points usually keeps him at home. You'll note a Chaos Sorcerer lord with a deamon sword can strike like the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(234);'>KoS</span>, have a great spell lore, a solid save (mounted on a chaos steed), and weigh in at many less points. ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Chaos is pretty much out of luck when it comes to ranged attacks.  There's some obscure stuff like the Hellcannon and throwing axes as an option on marauder cavalry.<br /> <br /> Khorne are definitely all about the combat and not at all about the magic.<br /> <br /> Frenzy basically adds an extra attack for each model- a big deal with models that have high <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(149);'>WS</span>, I, and especially strength.  Chosen Khorne Knights are rightly feared as one of the big bruiser units in the game.  The drawback is that you can't pass up a charge, so you can have your movement dictated to you at times.<br /> <br /> Do you have the rulebook yet?  I'd recommend it- it'll inform your decisions on this sort of thing a lot more.<br /> <br /> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(314);'>RZ</span>]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Yeah I do need to buy the rule book but that will have to wait till next payday <img src="/s/i/a/c944477abc92c1c101da485e07ff06d8.gif" border="0">  <br /> <br /> I played a game last night against an empire army and i used 3 units of chaos warriors 2 spawn 5 knights a exalted champion and a lord in a chariot and another chariot and a wizard(that did the best in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>CC</span> by the way).  It wasnt bad i lost alot of my guys to shooting so i got kinda nervous but once my guys hit the lines carnage soon followed.  <br /> <br /> All in all it was alot of fun.  I really enjoy the game, it makes you think alot more than <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span>. <br /> <br /> The highlight of the match was when i failed a charge with my knights and he charged with his knights the next turn and after his rolls i only lost one knight and then killed the entire unit with my attacks. <br /> <br /> <br /> I borrowed the dex from a friend so ill write a list and post it soon <br /> <br /> <br />  ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ We didnt get to finish but i think i would have won because i had 4 knights the were on his flank and i could have rolled through his lines with them. There were also 3 units of warriors (30 total i think) and a chariot ready to charge at the same time as the knights.   ]]></description>
