force weapons

Actually using a force weapon is considered a psychic power. Thus a librarian wishing to use his force weapon in assault may not have used a power previously that turn. It requires a psychic test and is therefore affected by enemy psychic hoods and eldar runes of warding.

force weapons

remember that a codex will always override the BGB when it comes to rules. My particular post earlier specifically referred to a force weapon carried by a space marine librarian. There are other force weapons (like the nemesis force weapons used by grey knights) that do not require a psychic test to use because they do not have that ability unless the model using it is a Grand Master. And yes, the use of a force weapon's wound removing ability after dealing a wound to a model is in fact a psychic attack.

Re:force weapons

Dakkaladd has it slightly wrong above. Correct about not being able to use the force weapons psychic attack, incorrect that you cannot wield the force weapon in the assault.

A Lib that uses his psychic power in a previous phase of the turn before assaulting, can still wield his force weapon in the assault phase. However if he fights a multi-wound creature he will be unable to take advantage of the force weapon's extra property to do multiple wounds because it does require a psych test. It will however still inflict a wound as a power weapon since force weapons are to act as power weapons with an additional special ability.

force weapons

Ah, perhaps I was not entirely clear. Yes, a model may always use a force weapon conventionally in the assault phase, it is simply a power weapon. When I say "use" I mean in an active sense, using the psychic power to remove all remaining wounds from a model wounded by the force weapon.
