Ditto on Lootas. KMBs are a bad choice on infantry, they blow up nearly as often as they hit and cost a fair few points. Also, small mobs are a weakness and are bound to run away. Compare that to the improved range, rate of fire and reliability of lootas and there's no real contest.

I love the idea of a Dreadmob list, but can't help thinking you'd be better off with mobs of Killa Kans than Deff Dreads for sheer killyness. They're also a good place to put those KMBs, considering they have BS3 and won't overheat!

You desperately need to consolidate your squads. On foot burna boys are extremely vulnerable and a squad of 5 is utterly worthless. Remember that ork leadership is a 7, which makes morale checks a thing to avoid like the plague. The strength of orks is in numbers, so use it. A squad of 12 ceases to be fearless after only 2 casualties, again not very good. This is why trukkboys are a hit and miss unit.

My recommendation is to put all 15 burnas in a squad together with the big mek. I would also personally make 2 squads of 30 boys, with 3 special weapons a piece and the nob. Use the KFF to protect them and any extra points can go to another buggy.

However if you are intent on using trukkboys then by all means have at it, just be wary of bouncing off marine units.

Burnaboyz? Ewwwww. Don't do it, they're worthless without a BW (and not all that even with one).

I think Killa Kans are a better deal than Dreads. You can get two Kans for slightly more than the cost of one Dread, giving you better firepower and, against most enemies, just as much CC (offensively, that is). I'd also consider two AV11 vehicles to be more durable than a single AV12, but I'm not sure how to go about proving that. Oh, and the fact that there's a great amount of overlap between weapons best suited for killing Warbuggies, Kans and boyz works in your favour, too.

1750 Dread Bash

I would recommend dropping the 2nd buggy and one dread to take 2 Killa Kanz with KMB as that seems to be your theme. I would also recommend either bundling up the 3 burna squads or dropping them all together in favor of a 30 boy mob with Rokkits and a PK Nob.

It's definitely a fun list, but I think that you need at least one unit that will be resilient overtime as once the Trukk boyz hit they are killing and then getting killed.

@teg
11 burnas + Mad Dok in a looted wagon is a nasty HtH unit, pretty cheap too. They are still S4 PW attacks.
B)
Not soooo gross.
165+160+35(50) = 360/375pt

Great signature by the way.

Re:1750 Dread Bash

That is the nice part about having 15 burna boyz in the list. I can swap them out for another elite choice pretty easy.

My plan was to run two of the units behind one dread wall of three. I would use the other unit behind the dread wall of two. I do not just plan on marching them in plain sight.

Yes, they are fragile. Yes they have orky leadership. They are a small number of units per squad, carry two power weapons, three KMBs, and you need three different units to engage the three different squads. It makes for lots of decisions to be made for what to shoot at. Full FOCs do have there benefits.

As for kans. I have them and run them sometimes. They are extremely fragile and really slow things down advancing. They are not without their merits, but IMHO dreads are much more resilient and much cheaper to keep resilient. Armor plates will keep them moving.

Re:1750 Dread Bash

I'm surprised t-C's kans comment hasn't been more reinforced. Dreads rarely make it to combat --even five. The real question is do you want them there? The answer is probably no, unless they can't be hurt, but this is commonly prepared for with any unit you'll ever likely get into combat with. At any rate, 2 guns are better. 2 kans have better shooting, are more survivable, are almost as good in combat, and add target saturation. They also add more dread bash-iness to the list by making it look like you have more dreads overall. 9 kans and 2 dreads is far more impressive looking than 5 dreads.

A comment that hasn't been made before though is that your buggies are better off in your situation with flamers or big shootas. Anti-tank isn't really an issue for your list, so getting some other guns is a good idea.

-LE037

Re:1750 Dread Bash

Ran a game last night with the list. I played against guard in a cleanse gamma mission. The board was set up in a way that I had to go through a big bottle neck to get to his forces. I had some alleys to engage his troops on the edges of the boards, but the main push had to go straight through the middle.

First, the burna boyz and there 9 KMBs were useless. I should have known, but wanted to give it a shot anyways. I can get the same results from what they did with grot riggers.

The dreads were great combined with the KFF. they soaked up so much firepower it was unbelievable. I lost two dreads all game. Three were in perfect working order at the end. Poor guy knew he was playing orks and loaded up on heavy bolters. He only had two squads of missle launchers, one squad of lascannons, and a handful of plasma guns. Plus he had two leman russ tanks. He had three squads of heavy bolters. He had arranged himself to where the heavy bolters were in the prime shooting position in the bottleneck. I still stand by my dreads.

I do need some more ranged Anti-Infantry killyness. I like the idea of switching out the buggies from rokkits to big shootas. I am also toying with the idea of dropping all the burna boyz, two warbuggies, and a dread . With the points I can get a trukk-load of 'Ard Boyz w/ a PK/BP nob, 5 x warbike squad w/ a PK/BP nob, and grot riggers for all the dreads and chukkas for all the trukks.

Besides my trukk boyz (I have never played my orks against guard before. WOW! They are CC monsters compared to guardsmen), my best anti-infantry weapon against him was tank shocking with my trukk. Managed to rid the board of a heavy bolter squad, missle launcher squad and lascannon squad all in one run. It was great. He even tried a Death or Glory with his missle launcher squad and didn't quite make it. It was great.

Things looked bleak in the first two rounds, but once my trukks moved in and my dreads were in place, there was a big shift in momentum.
