Orc & Goblin 2250 - what's competitive?

Hello - I have been fielding the following 2250 pt O&G army with little success against WE and VC (with Empire and HE still to go). Is this a competitive list or do I just suck... What is the army list design philosophy used by successful O&G generals?

Gorbad Ironclaw (1#, 310 Pts)

Big Boss (8#, 336 Pts)
1 Savage Orc Big Boss @ 109 Pts
Choppa; Extra Hand Weapon; Warpaint; Frenzy
1 Warboss Imbad's Iron Gnashas @ [30] Pts
6 Savage Orc Boar Boyz Big'Uns @ 227 Pts
Musician Mus; Choppa; Warpaint; Animosity; Frenzy
1 Savage Boar Boy Boss @ [46] Pts

Shaman (1#, 100 Pts)
1 Night Goblin Shaman @ 100 Pts
1 Dispel Scroll @ [25] Pts
1 Dispel Scroll @ [25] Pts

Shaman (1#, 100 Pts)
1 Night Goblin Shaman @ 100 Pts
1 Dispel Scroll @ [25] Pts
1 Dispel Scroll @ [25] Pts

Spider Rider Mob (5#, 70 Pts)
5 Forest Goblin Spider Riders @ 70 Pts
Hand Weapon; Short Bow; Spear; Shield; Animosity; Fast Cavalry; Fear Elves

Spider Rider Mob (5#, 70 Pts)
5 Forest Goblin Spider Riders @ 70 Pts
Hand Weapon; Short Bow; Spear; Shield; Animosity; Fast Cavalry; Fear Elves

Boyz Mob (20#, 230 Pts)
19 Savage Orc Boyz @ 230 Pts
Musician Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Choppa; Extra Hand Weapon; Warpaint; Animosity; Frenzy
1 Savage Orc Boss @ [25] Pts
Choppa; Extra Hand Weapon; Warpaint; Frenzy

Boyz Mob (21#, 240 Pts)
20 Savage Orc Boyz @ 240 Pts
Musician Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Choppa; Extra Hand Weapon; Warpaint; Animosity; Frenzy
1 Savage Orc Boss @ [25] Pts
Choppa; Extra Hand Weapon; Warpaint; Frenzy

Night Goblin Mob (31#, 186 Pts)
28 Night Goblins @ 186 Pts
Musician Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Hand Weapon; Spear; Shield; Animosity; Fear Elves; Hate Dwarves
1 Night Goblin Boss @ [12] Pts
Hand Weapon; Spear; Shield
2 Fanatics @ [50] Pts

Night Goblin Mob (31#, 186 Pts)
28 Night Goblins @ 186 Pts
Musician Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Hand Weapon; Spear; Shield; Animosity; Fear Elves; Hate Dwarves
1 Night Goblin Boss @ [12] Pts
Hand Weapon; Spear; Shield
2 Fanatics @ [50] Pts

1 Goblin Spear Chukka @ 35 Pts

1 Goblin Spear Chukka @ 35 Pts

1 Goblin Spear Chukka @ 35 Pts

1 Goblin Spear Chukka @ 35 Pts

1 Giant @ 205 Pts

1 Snotling Pump Wagon @ 40 Pts

1 Snotling Pump Wagon @ 40 Pts

Orc & Goblin 2250 - what's competitive?

A couple things
Firs, dont list individual pt chosts, just units
Second, you didnt bother to give your big boss a boar...

Are those shaman lvl 1 or 2? I prefer lvl 2 just because two lvl 1's are only good for defense.

I would bump up the savage orc units up to 25.
Add some wolf rider units to help screen and direct the savage orcs so they don't wander.

And Im not sure if i remember correctly but doesn't Gorbad Ironclaw need a unit of black orcs to go in?

Its kind of a small army and easy for the enemy to direct around as it is. Savage units need help to prevent them from going every which way (espically against the oponents you mention).

I would sugest taking something like this for the core of the army

2x spear chucka - 35*2
2*25 savage orcs - 280*2
3*25 normal orcs - ??? (cant be that expensive)
2x30 night goblins - 186*2
2*scroll caddy (lvl 2 if you can spare it) - 100*2

This gives you 5 good block units and 2 decent ones as well as some magical defense. Orcs are really a hoard army, use em as such.

Re:Orc & Goblin 2250 - what's competitive?

4 dispel scrolls is kind of much, you have 200 points in Magic Defence that does not do anything else. Making them lvl2 goblins will give you some spellcasting in the magic phase, also drop 1 scroll each shaman and pick up a power stone for each guy. This will allow you to add some power for an extra spell when you really need it.

If you still need some more Dispel to your army make your Bigboss a BSB and give him Morks Sprit totem (with your shamans thats 7DD).

Orcs do better with bigger numbers, try 25+ for your unit size.

"I" don't like to give my NG units a Standard. I generaly expect them to lose combat so I don't want to give up the extra 100 VP's for the captured standard.

If you are facing Ranked units, try trading in 2 of your bolt throwers for a stone thrower.

And Im not sure if i remember correctly but doesn't Gorbad Ironclaw need a unit of black orcs to go in?
Ur thinking of Grimgor, Gorbad is the only orc war boss that has LD 10 and counts as the army battle standard. Night goblins function better in 30 gobbo blocks and savage orcs, really dont use em except as big uns on boars for the powerful hits. 4 spear chuckas though a little overboard IMO. A pair of giants may better serve you instead of the one
