Which is better?

In your personal experience, which do you think is better:

A.) Joining your Character to a unit, thus making that unit catch many a bolter shot to the face as a result?

OR

B.) Surrounding your Character by your troops so he cannot be targeted, but not actually joining him to that unit, and leaving openings in the assault for him to charge through?

Tell me which you think is better.

Which is better?

This is a topic more suited to the tactics forum, methinks.

Also note that in v5, just surrounding an IC with other units no longer means he can't be shot at. You have to block LOS to him.

Either he would be joined as a member of the unit or, if they were all >2" away, give him a 4+ cover save vs. shooting.

IC's CAN BE PICKED OUT now (unless they've joined a unit).

Eric

It's out?

Sorry, I don't have it yet. I was just having an argument with a friend over 4th edition rules, which apparently by this time are ancient.

Woe is me.
