converting a hammerhead.

i think the current model for the hammerhead is meh. and i am looking for a way to spice it up a notch.

the first thing that came to mind was to mount the rail gun underneath the main body of the tank. without the turret of course.

i am shooting for a look like spikes ship from cowboy bepob.
http://www.projectbag.com/cowboy_bebop/pics/ships/spikes_ship07.jpg

of course the tank is a bit wider then that. but you get the jist of it.

my first plan of action was to use a set of fast attack skimmer wings on the sides of the rail gun. but im not sold on that idea yet. it would be worth a shot to find something round-ish to use to hold the gun to (mabey cutting part of the gun off) like the in that pic.

i know i will have to forfit the landing gear of the tank. but o well, i never land them anyways.

so. anyone have any ideas to throw out that might be of help?

I reckon with the look you're going for (which I like, by the way) you're probably gonna want to get rid of most of the back end - except the engines of course. That would pave the way for a much slimmer, nicer looking body.
For the underslung railgun, you could get rid of the raised area on the bottom with includes the front turret and landing gear, and mount it there.

I think I'm unconciously taking design ideas from this:

You can reverse the turret and chop off the right side so that the gun sits more flush to the bottom of the hull and then fix it in place so that it doesn't rotate. That would give you a low profile pod with a plausible place for ammo feed and gun controls.

Another possibility would be to remove the chin turret and mod in a pair of Broadside rail guns, possibly cut down a bit, That would look very nice.

No kits unfortunately. The only vehicle models available are the ones by McFarlane, which are tiny, and the actionclix series. You can get a warthog (damaged or not) and a banshee, both of which are about 11cm long.

I can't imagine them being incredibly useful for conversions, but message me if you've any questions about them, as I have both.

@ The dreadnote.

im ok with conversions as long as green stuff, or plastic card is not required. i have never tried anything with either of those, but its worth a shot i think.

how would you go about trimming down the back part of the body to slim the profile down?

@ Ifurita

i tried the idea with broadside rail guns. the end result is something that dosent look beefy enough IMO.

i have yet to try the idea about chopping off part of the turret..... back to the modeling table now

Ah, well this idea would likely require one or the other, or more likely both. And besides, you gonna have to start using them sooner or later.

But if you've not done as substantial a conversion as I'm suggesting before (don't worry, neither have I) it's probably best to disregard my advice
