40k 'Ard boyz query

Now this came up at my FLGS recently. The 'Ard boyz rules make no mention about needing a fully painted 3 color minimum army. So does that mean it allows non-painted figs to be used?! When this came up my only reply was, "I'm sure that GW has it as a universal rule?" So... whats the dealio?!

Just to be redundant, my FLGS also said unpainted models are acceptable. This is good considering that the black reach boxed set arrives only a week before the tournament.

Re:40k 'Ard boyz query

unpaints last time and the norm for my FLGS. Everyone paints kinda slow, so there is no requirement at tourneys there for paint. Strangely enough, you don't face many armies at all that remain unpainted for too awful long.

Regionals was another matter entirely. Proxies, unbuilt models, from several people. We spent the first half hour walking around, explaining the obvious, and making people redo lists with legal models. Then we got to the last guy. He was actually building orks from two boxes he had bought that morning. The stuff he was playing round one with was bases, sometimes with legs glued on. And this was at the regional level, unbelievable. We put in a ringer for round 2, and had to disqualify him. Almost his entire army was proxy, or had no head/arms/weapons/wheels.

40k 'Ard boyz query

The FLGS I worked at in Phoenix had the regional 'ard Boys the first year GW 'ran' them, and we had no proxies or unpainted models that I remember. Just a couple personality conflicts between a couple players. One of the best tournaments I've had the pleasure of organising.

40k 'Ard boyz query

The rule packet actually mandates that all models must be WYSIWYG, but that paint is not required. So no proxies (though they go on to list what is allowed), but the grey army of unprimed/unpainted is fine.

Luckily the FLGS I play at has players that pretty much only field painted armies. And anything new doesn't stay unpainted for long.
