What to do with this RT marine? [Old School Entry]

This was my entry for the Old School challenge.

Now that I've worked up the guts to ask for a critique, here goes. I pretty much painted this guy at the last minute, so I rushed through a lot of stuff. What should I do to improve him? The photo is not the best, but I think it's good enough for us to work with for these purposes.

I made my first attempt at wet-blending on this guy (which basically didn't work), I think maybe I need to use a lighter shade as the highlight color. I'm also not happy with the yellow "caution bar" pattern on the Bolter. I must admit my crappy old pot of Bad Moon Yellow was no help in the matter.

But anyway, please any feedback, hints and tips are much appreciated!

ok so he really isnt that bad. what didnt do it for me was the hazzard stripes on the gun. yes they look rushed but next time you try this paint the black stripes over the yellow.

instead of doing the wet blend that didn't turn out maybee try hardlining for your highlights. this works best for SM.

and a good dynamic base would work wonders for the model alone.

If you want to try him again go for it and strip him.
here are some of my suggestions for this is what I would have done....

1...Dynamic base. go up one base size it is legal and you can make it more cinematic.
2...primer white.
3...if you want the hazzard stripes put them on his right shoulder pad and leave them off the gun
4...paint the gun in black and pick out the details with greys. and drill out the bolters barrel. the bullets have to leave somewhere.
5...three different shades of green with the third being your hard line.
6...pick out the details of the mask and its hoses in a complimentary color. maybee greys. dont let them blend into the rest of the armor. we want to be able to see them.
7...more detail on those heads that are hanging on his belt in your original they just look like they had a flesh wash added to them.

now this is just my opinion and I know I might a little brutal but heh here it is.

over all I think what you produced here is averag table top quality. and an old model like this can be made so much more.

Twister....
