I think my main problem is that i'm impatient and I need a nicer detail brush.

Is a good brush, patience, and a steady hand really the key to getting those nice lines on the edges?

Any alternative methods for doing this?

I'm using one of the GW color schemes, the Sa'cea (sp?) cept I believe is what it's called. It's the one where the main color is a mix of Shadow Grey and Space Wolves Grey.
