Age of Spray Primer and Possible Negative Effects?

Hey guys,

Quick primer question: I know in other threads about primer, it's been mentioned that the age of the spray can can have a negative impact on the results. I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how old is "too old" to use, and if there is an expiration date or anything like that that I should be aware of?

I only ask because I have an old-ish can of primer that I would rather not waste, but I don't want to use if it's going to screw stuff up. Is it mostly a question of uneven coverage or uneven finish (i.e. a bumpy finish)? What's the worst that could happen?

Thanks,

Hordini

The older the can the more shaking is required. Don't feel that 10-15 minutes is excessive, it isn't if you want a good performance. Also, if you get the ball inside see if by using a swirling motion you can run it round the corner created between the base and side of the can, and again between the top and side of the can, helps dislodge any settled out lumps, then shake some more.

And definitely test on something you don't mind sacrificing... in fact, if you know you're going to need more than that can, and it has a slightly dubious quality, use it on your rank and files and use the new can on your characters and vehicles.

Ah, yeah. When it doubt, use a test model! I always seem to forget about that (luckily I haven't gotten burned yet).

I guess if I use it on a test model though, and everything is fine, then I should be good to go on my "serious" stuff, right?
