I've played against relatively few Chaos armies, mostly Marauders and Beastmen - no Chaos Warriors. I just like the models, and wonder if they're worth it. I look at most of the Chaos lists I come up with and fail to see how it isn't hopelessly outnumbered and outshot by my Skaven lists. I know that's mostly because I have a ten year relationship with my rats, and know little of the ways of Chaos.

Although neat little groups of twelve 'Chaos' Warriors seem a whole lot less chaotic than most of my slave packs...

Anyway, I'm interested in playing a ground-based Tzeentch magic-heavy army, with an armoured core. A fear-causing stubborn army works out well for me. I have my lord on foot and a exalted champion with the unit of chaos knights. With the characters in the unit to add some hitting power, I can normally run off most opponents no prob. All i need is to win by a couple of points on CR and that's an outnumbered by fear causing test, baby! (provided i do actually outnumber them). I've been playing this army for a while and I really enjoy the way it works. IMO, i dont think Marauders are worth anything. If i could sub them out for something better, I would. However, they tend to not run either because they are stubborn, too! My two coppers.

Oh BTW, all of my chaos warriors are hand weapon/shield. 3+ in HTH. warriors are good, but only a few units, youcan have too many.
and knights are always good, aginst elf barely anything can hurt them.

My marauders do have flails, they aren't as bad as I'm making them out to be. I just really like the warriors. An all warrior army, that would rock.
