land raider help!

My FLGS was having a moving sale and I scored sundry land raider parts cheap. I want to make Ork battle wagons but I'm not sure how much stuff I've got. There are three tops and loads of sides. I don't have many tread parts but I've got plenty of other doors and hatches and such. I've already got some ork big gunz that i'll be putting on top. How should I proceed? I'm not good at modeling/converting so any help would greatly appreciated. edit: in other words, what else do I need to buy?

Well, you're going to need something to make floor surfaces from. I suggest plasticard (sheet styrene).
You have more "top" pieces than "side" pieces. You have enough side pieces for 2 Land Raiders )presuming you assemble them as normal).
Tracks are easy.
Get some THIN sheet styrene... bendable sheets (THAT THIN).
cut a strip as wide as the "opening" on the land raider where the tracks would go, and long enough to encircle the whole piece (at LEAST enough so that your ends are hidden under the buil=in track guards). You may need to use multiple pieces. If that is the case, arrange them so that the places where different lengths meet are on flat surfaces. a join on a bend will tend to separate more.

Once those are attached, glue small(ish), irregular squares and rectangles to them. These are your actual track pieces. For fun, you can make them all (or some) in the shapes of Ork Glyphs. that will adda lot of character to your model.

Eric

I'd suggest gluing pieces of plasticard together and then patching the holes, thus more "Orky".

For the really thin 'bendy' plasticard mentioned above, it doesn't get much cheaper than plastic 'FOR SALE' signs from your local Walmart/Retail store.

http://www.plastruct.com/ is a good online source for all kinds of plastic gubbinz, they're good for plain and textured sheets, as well as 'I' beams, tubing and girders.

You might check your local model train shop, as many of those have a nice selection of plastic card and the like...
