Gobbos, D. Wolves, and the Undead [Large Post]

Recently I started playing WFB and as such a friend and I went half on Battle for Skull Pass. Being naturally inclined to evil, murderous gits and him being naturally drawn to drunk stunties.. the models we would take was clear.... However, although Goblins (and later purchasing some Orc boyz) were fun, they weren't really my "fit". I guess.

So to shorten the story, I decided to pick up Vampire Counts. I really like The Undead and its denizens, Vampires, and all that super natural stuff. I really would like to make some kind of conversion that would be reminiscent of the Castlevania series (more on that later though.). Before I made the switch though, I picked up some Wolf Riders, mainly because I loved the way the wolves looked and was more inclined to have a gobbo army over a mixed one. I never assembled them.

So,
Could I recycle those wolves and have them count as Dire Wolves? I don't really like the new ones, they're too Resident Evily, I guess. I really liked the older models where the wolves were wolves and not rotting piles of flesh called back from the grave. Might seem silly, but I prefer that the Wolves serve out of loyalty to their Dark Lord(s), whether it be misguided or not, as opposed to being bound to them. Though this might not entirely be the case. (To be honest I've not read through the whole Vampire Count codex. I had a very ancient one that I thumbed through when VC's had blood lines and such. Haven't had the time to read the new one completely through and might be making an assumption about some of the background info here. Been having too much fun with assembling the models and painting )

I haven't gotten my hands on any of the new Dire Wolves, so I'm unsure as to how the Gobbo Wolves would scale in comparison. If they end up seeming wimpy in contrast I'll probably take the new one. Also, with random gobbo parts, does anyone have an idea what I could do with the bitz? I've some ideas.

Last bit before I retire from this thread, recently I've been painting (aye, I'm a novice.) and have ran into a slight aggravating bump. I've been working with my skeletons and though the models don't look bad.. I've ran into this problem with there being no (I guess) "black line" between bone segments. I think this is attributed to the lack of a black ink wash when I first started layering my bones, but I'm unsure.

P.S. - I will be reading through the Painting and Modeling articles when I get in from work tomorrow. Thanks again guys, sorry for the really long and winded post.

Wow,
those are some nice wolves. Especially like the Wolf retrieving the shield, hah.

Well, 'real life' has been kickin' my ass all over the place. Haven't had the time to devote or post like I'd like to, however the weekend has started so .

Thanks for the feed back Waaagh, gonna toss a post in the P&M Blogs.
