Lasgunpacker's random painting

Like many amongst us, I paint more or less randomly. While I always intend to finish units and armies, I will forget all that and go on binges of painting other things. This, coupled with my generally slow painting, and lack of focus in gaming means for the most part I produce "useless" items, which interested me at the time.

A few notes, I am not the best painter (only been doing this 12 years), nor the best photographer. Please excuse any errors of technical nature, and if you like, profer ways to improve them. The goal here more to chronicle my work than to seek advice, for after all, these are already painted.

To start, let us look at my Warhammer Giant. The giant was painted so that it could serve in a DOW, Empire, or Goblin army. (or indeed anything else).
Being a large beastie, he was pretty hard to photograph, and still needs a layer of dullcoat.

Close up of his face:

Shields on his arms:

Next time we will review some miniatures I have painted for WFRP.

Moving Along

Moving along to some figures I painted for WFRP, here is a classic vampire:

The model is from Reaper, and should make for a classic antagonist when a party just needs to be killed.
The colors are slighly dulled here, and the base is not finished, but you get the idea. Dracula rip off. Clothing is not quite right for circa 1500 AD like Warhammer ought to be, but maybe he's just ecentric in terms of dress.

Next is a re-model of a classic Heroquest Wizard. I clipped off most of the built in base, mounted him on a slotta, and switched out his mit of a right hand for a sword.
Detailing is pretty poor on this figure, as expected from a board game peice, but sufficent to get the idea across. Needs dullcoat.

This guy could be used as a wizard, or just some class of wandering hero type. Plenty of career options open!

Next, we have a wizard. This figure is from Crocodile games, and originaly had some poorly sculped ravens or crows sitting on his staff. By adding a sword he is more "warhammer-y", although not really that useful for WFRP as he is a bit too high fantasy. I see him as either a hedge mage, or a rogue wizard seduced by the dark arts. I still need to go back and add runic markings to all that cloth. Not looking forward to it.

Finaly for today, we have a veteran seaman. Another Reaper figure, with his right hand swaped for a milita sword hand.

again, the clothing is not really suited for the early 1500's but he is a sailor, so it should be easy to explain as being foriegn. Does the WH world even have parrots?

Next time, more WFRP figures, this time a few women.

BloodDeathAssault wrote:Some very nice painting in there, were is that pirate guy from?

Thanks! The pirate is a reaper figure, "Peg Leg Pete" 03152. I expect that the paper in his hand is supposed to be a treasure map. Since there was no easy way to strap a sword to his waist/back etc, I replaced the map hand with a sword hand.

Re:Lasgunpacker's random painting

More figures, again for WFRP.

This first one is a gladiator from Reaper. The left hand originaly had a severed human head, which has been replaced by a crossbow. The axe in the left hand had its thick and out of scale head replaced by a plastic halberd head. Gives a bit more of an imperial look to the weaponry.

This next is also a reaper figure, and was modified to have a lantern in the right hand, and some throwing knives, since otherwise the figure was totaly unarmed.

On another note, I have never had as much trouble with paint flaking as with this figure, which makes me wonder if it needed a wash prior to being primed.
