HELP!!!! Kilts for Guard minis

Hi, i was watching braveheart earlier and an idea popped into me head(and pride fillin me heart seein so i am scotish on me fathers side), wouldn't it be good to see a guard army on the tabletop fully kitted out with kilts and bagpipes. Well i decided to try my hand at this crazy idea and so put together a couple of ideas for potential conversions.
Ok, 2 of the main ways i could pull this off was to either a) use the cadian models, remove the shoulder pads and create kilts with green stuff, or b) use the clansmen models from the LOTR range remove the upper half of the model add the leather armoured torso from the Empire militia sprues and repaire the kilt were need, also adding the shoulder part of the kilt with greenstuff.

Seem so i dont have any of the clansmen models i thort i would try method a, now the last project i used greenstuff on was for making armour on the sadle part of some empire knights to create some centour hevy cavalry for me DOW army in fantasy, well with pride they realy did turn out very good, well thinking i had just enough skill to pull method a off i put together a couple of prototypes BUT they aren't very good, i'll post some pics up soon.

So i need some tips and/advice so any feed back would be appriciated, thanx.

HELP!!!! Kilts for Guard minis

If you use LOTR parts you cannot play with the models in a tournement. I would suggest a magic marker rolling pin and some greenstuff. Roll the greenstuff flat on some wax paper. Use a razorblade to carefully press the pattern into the kilts. Wrap the model. Done deal.

HELP!!!! Kilts for Guard minis

My advice to you, is to take tha Militiamen, and just add a GS kilt and hack off the arms for the guardsmen arms. just paint the legs under the kilt either flesh tone or white, like long socks. then you can have your very own WWI-II style 40k 'Ladies from Hell' I must say its a great idea....

Or if you want long kilts use the men-at-arms and hack the upper torso off...

HELP!!!! Kilts for Guard minis

sure ting Capin. if yer looking down the road of long kilts take a look at some of my figs. bear in mind they would be long kilts.

the M-A-As are men with sircoats. these go down juuuuust below the knee. this would save you money in the long I think, and make it alot easier. All ya gotta do is cutt off the body at the waist and you have some long kilts. if the little opening in the front gots ya down, try adding the little bag they have on them...I dont know what its called, but its a brown (from the ones Ive seen) with white fluff on it.

then that should do it...
