Abaddon & Berserkers in a Land Raider delivery System

So I have never had much luck with Khorne Berserkers but for some reason I can't stop trying to get them to do their job so I was thinking about putting 8 Berserkers(With Skull Champ and PW) with Abaddon in a Land Raider and seeing what kind of damage they can do.
Now that combo should in theory allow for direct assault on most targets with 0-11 S8 I6 PW attacks with rerolls to wound,5 S5 I5 PW attacks,28 S5 I5 normal attacks. Admitadly they will obliterate most targets they assault leaving them open to a turn of shooting and/or counter attack which I've found Berserkers turn into absolute pussies under such conditions but at least they are all fearless. One question on rules. It states under the Relentless USR that an IC with Relentless must abide by the assault restrictions of the squad he is joined with. Does this mean that Abaddon cannot fire his TL-Bolter and assault?(Or does it mean that Abaddon could fire but couldn't assault if the squad rapidfired?)

In total this setup is somewhere in the region of 750-800pts(Don't have the codex but about that). Quite Pricey.

Now another option (Keeping with Abaddon as the main theme) is a basic 4man Terminator Squad which is without upgrades 120pts.This squad outputs 12 S4 I4 PW attacks on a charge on top of Abaddons attacks. Much less killing but at 110pts(Approx) cheaper and with a plethora of juicy upgrades they could take and better saves they would last longer, But of course half the wounds.
Though they are not Fearless LD10 is acceptable.

Now if I went for 4 Terminator Champs,Mark of Slaanesh and Twin LC all around it comes to about the same as the Berserker squad for 20 S4 I5 PW attacks which reroll to wound.

if anyone a better combination or opinion I'd be glad to hear it.

If you've got a Berzerker squad in a Land Raider you really don't need to boost them with Abbadon. But if you do feel like they need a bit more punch you can use cheaper HQ units like Kharn or Lucius. Lucius is my favorite because it is awesome in combat and cheap as dirt - so not a big loss if he is eventually killed.

In answer to you query, if Abbadon fires his bolter he can still charge. Thus the whole unit can still charge since the Berzerkers have nothing but pistols. Just be careful about shooting before charging because you can sometime kill everyone within 6".

I personally like the a Nurgle lord with a daemon weapon. You can even toss him on a palanquin if you want to tool him up.

The always wound of a 4+ rips through monstrous creatures (which you pretty much always run into at tournies due to Nidzilla lists). Also the new poison rules let you re roll to wound against models with T4, so he's a hell of an infantry killer too. Just beware of powerfists, but that goes for everyone.

Pete

Or Biel-Tan? Surely these two sub-lists aren't present at every battle in the universe?

If you go down this road, then every battle you play must be Imperial Guard against Orks - as they are the only two forces large enough to justify playing a fluffy battle. There are only 1000 Space Marine chapters, but billions of planets. The odds against any single battle (much less all the ones you play) even involving a Space Marine force are astronomical.

Or you could just take a "storyteller" point of view and say that all of your battles are the continuing story of 1st Company, or Biel-Tan...or Abbadon and his personal elite guard.

They either all work or none of them do.

Berzerkers are the best addition to him IMO. Skullchamp with a fist though.

Ummmm, that's freaky! That is the exact setup I was thinking of running. 8 zerks, SC with PF, and Abby. Still figuring out the deployment rules though, and I haven't actually used it in a battle. If I can master that setup, a lot of enemies are gonna stain their undies when that Land Raider comes at them full tilt. Assuming the LR doesn't get blown up and I lose like 500 pts worth of precious cargo. On that note, take Daemonic Possesion and drive that hulk at full speed toward the enemy line. Don't dillydally and shoot with it. It's main purpose should be to deliver Abby (and the zerks once I figure that part out) into face to face mayhem!
