Chaos Vanilla Marines

I play CSM Black Legion and Chaos Daemons. I especially enjoy how the armies work perfectly together in APOC. This coming year I plan to buy and build a 3rd army. I love the new Marines Codex. As a CSM player, I'm especially jeleous of the 12 person Land Raiders, Drop Pods, new Storm Shields, Combat Tactics, and Special Characters. And I have always wanted to build and use land speeders.

I want to build a Vanilla Marine army, play using the new Vanilla Marine Codex, but have everything look Chaos Black legion. I know this is far from original, but when I bring it up among players at GW stores, they say it would be beardy or not up to fluff.

Would anybody have any problems with playing a person who uses Chaos "looking" Vanilla marines?

I'm especially eager to make a Nurgle Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield Terminator squad by mixing vanilla termies, FW Nurgle conversion kits, and Fantasy Chaos Knights sheilds. All riding in a Nurgle LR Redeemer with FW doors. Led by a Nurgle Lysander.

Anyone have any other good conversion ideas for this project?

I'd say go with it. It'll be great fun. Anything with a good invulnerable save can make awesome Tzeentch stuff. The new SM codex is better for making Tzeentch lists than the current CSM codex.
Hahaha, I think the difference between "Beardy" and "original" are very few but very important. If you have your concept, and your fluffy story as to why these guys are fighting like normal marines, then do it, and it will be MUCH more interesting than Timmy and his 500,000th Ultramarine army. He plays Ultramarines because the codex says the Ultramarines fight like the codex says they fight!
I'd rather see someone fighting with some CSM, that fight like Space Marines, because they are a special infiltration group or something similar.

Re:Chaos Vanilla Marines

I don't really have any fluff behind my desire to build this army. I am fully aware of the fact that loyal marines chapters and or companies go renegade all of the time. I always thought that it was cool. And I figure that even though they're devoted to the chaos gods, they would still use the gear and tactics that they've used their whole lives. Only after having gone chaos for decades if not centuries would they start adopting true CSM tactics. I don't think a deamon prince would ever hang out with any marines who just went chaos within the past 5 years or so, he's got more devoted minions to boss around.

I play Black Legion, so I guess my fluff would be that Abaddon has recently defeated a chapter of regular marines, and offered the survivors their lives if they pledged their souls to him. Then he quickly subjected them to the powers of the warp. Exposing some assault terminators to nurgle's rot, and letting his more crazed chaos marines try their hand at piloting landspeeders and such. Then sends them out to earn their respect from him by waging war across the galaxy in his name, while he uses his more familiar CSM armies to wage his important campaigns. I should think up some more back story. Any ideas?

And to clear things up, my friends are not the ones complaining about this project of mine. They fully support it. It's the strangers I talk to at GW stores, and a few Red Shirts to be exact. First they misinterpret my project- they think that I somehow want to get away with having vanilla marine units and CSM units in the same list, like using sternguard and Oblits together. Or Landspeeders and Daemon Princes in the same list. After I assured them that this was not my intention, they simply say that it's beardy or not fluff correct. They said they would frown on or complain about such an army.

The opinions of strangers is never going to sway me whether I start this project or not, but I just wanted to get the feeling of this forum, seems like my local GW stores are full of idiots. Although Black Shirt Dave at Echelon Village in NJ is an awesome guy!

What will sway me is money, and the fact that I already have two 3000+pt armies and only play about a game a week. I should really concentrate on finishing the painting of my two armies and getting in more games. But I think that my Nurgle Thunder hammer/stormshield termies in a nurlge LR redeemer is definitely going to happen...even if they only see the light of day in an APOC game.

Thanks for your comments and opinions guys. And thanks for the encouragement.

Personally, I'd love to play the army. The best way to get a feel for the army your using is too play it against itself, and I think by using normal marines as Chaos it provides your opponent with a new challenge. Most are so used to playing against Chaos the way the 'dex says they should be played, it'd perhaps catch some off guard and win you some games on that alone.
As for the fluff above, that's short but sweet. I could imagine that happening. And I'd love to see those Nurgle Assault termies. That would be really cool.

Well...I just got a big bonus at work, so it's time to buy some new models. I have 3 black reach multi-melta Dreads on the way, 3 drop pods, a Termie Assault Squad, and a Land Raider Redeemer coming.

I'm going to convert and greenstuff the Redeemer to have Pus Cannon side sponsons instead of flamestorm cannons, with tubes running to them from leaking drums of nurlge goodness. I'll post pics as I work on them.

I guess next on my list will be 4 Land Speeders, 2 whirlwinds, a techmarine to be a corrupt master of the Forge, and a Lysander to cover with nurgle boils and sores.

I think there is no reason that CSM can't use SM equipment or vice-versa.. In the codices it says that squads, companies and chapters have gone over to chaos.
