Mob vs. Unit- distinction

Abit confused about the distinction between mob and unit, searched the forum and found nothing. I am mainly thinking this because of the Waagh banner. I wondering what the significance of the banner conferring +1 ws to the mob it is in. Initially I thought mob was just another term for unit, but when determining mob size one counts independent characters (As in the case of a weird boy determining leadership for a psychic power). So is a mob another term for a unit, or is a mob a term for a unit and all attached characters? If this has been debated elsewhere and I missed it please point me in the right direction,

Mob vs. Unit- distinction

I think Mob is the same as unit. They just coined the word mob because it is orky and they are adding color

just like the word 'squad' is not in the ork codex, but everywhere referring to units in the SM codex.

So the term 'squad' is used the same way as the word 'mob'

So however you view what squad means, is how you view what mob means.

But others believe differently

Mob = Unit.

Per the rules, though, when an IC joins the unit, they're considered a part of that unit.

Eric
