I know this will be blatantly obvious to most of you but it isn't to me. I was in my local hobby shop the other day and I saw two kinds of epoxy putty, Green Stuff and Grey Stuff. They came in the same quantities for the same price from the same company (gale force nine) so I want to know, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? I have absolutely no idea, please help me.

the difference between green stuff and grey stuff is just the color. GW for years sold green stuff the switched to grey stuff and have since switched back. brown stuff is used when you need something to be a little more stronger like if it will be holding more weight.

I hope this helps its pretty much what I can remember about the types of epoxy putty.

Twister . . .

A little question about epoxy putty...

Not true actually. Green stuff has more of a "memory" than other epoxy putties, meaning basically that it'll move back from an indentation or tool mark slightly more. The grey stuff (literally just renamed procreate) however, is more of all around putty. Depending on the combination of the two parts, you can mix a batch of putty which is either "softer" like greenstuff, or "harder" i.e less "memory", more like brownstuff, and as such easyer to get sharp edges with.

Hope that made sense,
Aquila

Re:A little question about epoxy putty...

You can also mix putties to get a substance which is a composite of the two. I often mix yellow/grey Milliput with GW's Green Stuff (50/50). This gives me a putty that is easy to work with but has a harder, less rubbery texture when it cures.

When my GW Green Stuff is all used up I'll be swapping to the GF9 brand Green Stuff as it's a lot cheaper.
