Warriors of Chaos - Call to Glory Cheat?

I had a battle with bretonnians and cast call to glory on one of my warriors to create an exalted hero

the unit was charged by a unit of knights and my exalted had to challenge, it was accepted by the paladin
and they each caused 1 wound on each other

I won combat and the brets held, so on my turn I was curious:

could I release the spell (and the normal warrior would then die of course, because he had taken one wound, thus
keeping my opponent from getting the 100 vp for the exalted)
and then try to recast the spell (thereby creating a new exalted hero with 2 wounds)

is this fair?
would it be cheesy or gamesmanship?

I chose not to do it, because I thought it was pushing it, and it was just a fun game with a player who was not as experienced as I
(who then later won the battle) : )

was curious what the rest of you thought... another FAQ for games workshop to ignore for 6 months

i think its a good tactical decision and your opponent might even be happy for the chance that you may fail to cast it. After all if you leave it there he can dispel it on a 12 but then if you cast it again you have to roll the 12.

You would still give up the VP's no matter how he died. He is a casualty and therefore scores for your oponent. Just like an enemy wizard that dies from a miscast counts for you.

I look at it this way. Only if the model is an Aspiring Champion at the point in which he is killed will he give up the 100 victory points. In the situation that jwelvis629 pointed out at the time of death he is nothing more than a RnF member of that unit. I think this a good way to use the spell though you still need to remember that once you fail 2 armor saves he dies before you can stop the spell. In that event he will give up 100 VPs.

Actually, the original model is removed from play when the spell is cast. I would argue that with that wording, ending the spell brings the original model back into play, meaning the two models are separate, and wounds would NOT carry over.

In my mind, there is no reverting to be done - the spell removes one model, replaces it with an exalted champ, and the champ can be removed himself by death (100 victory points are given up) or having the spell end(ed). I don't really read in any suggestion that the model de-hulks (hulks down) into the original model, which for all we know is Removed From The Table, like any other model removed from the table (generally through death).

Also, I play Tizz so any harshness in this interpretation isn't personal

So to answer the OP, I'd say you could end the spell to keep from giving 100 points, and the original model would stay Removed as well - but not because of carried over wounds, but because there is no way for it to return to the table.

- Salvage
