1750 mecheldar

been out of the loop for a few years, and getting back into the swing of it. This is my eldar list at 1750, it's been undefeated so far, but am looking towards taking to a few tournaments.

Farseer [rides with DAs]
-fortune, doom, spirit stones, spear, runes of warding

6 banshees [rides in falcon]
-exarch, executioner, acrobatic, warshout

6 banshees [in falcon]
-exarch, executioner, acrobatic

10 dire avengers
-exarch, defend, bladestorm, shimmershield
waveserpent
-TL Brightlance, Shuricannon, spirit stones

10 dire avengers
-exarch, defend, bladestorm, shimmershield
waveserpent
-TL Brightlance, Shuricannon, spirit stones

10 dire avengers
-exarch, defend, bladestorm, shimmershield
waveserpent
-TL Brightlance, Shuricannon, spirit stones

Falcon
-Spirit stones, holo-field, shuricannon, Scatterlaser

Falcon
-Spirit stones, holo-field, shuricannon, Scatterlaser

pts may be a tad off, but best i can remember. General idea is to spend the early turns negating opposing anti-armor, and transports. Midgame I set-up for nasty doom+bladestorm combos, coupled with banshee charges if available. Endgame I try to scoot surviving skimmers ontop of objectives while huddling foot-borne troops in cover. Generally I treat the banshees as somewhat expendable (except in KP missions) ways to knock out lone squads, or characters, OR to counter charge into whatever I leave the DAs to be the catcher-mitts for. Farseer rarely leaves the waveserpent, unless forced out. Spear is there because it's modeled ( I like the look) and for 3 pts its a nice emergency lascannon.

Ideas for tuning up for more competative play? vehicular weapon loadouts are magnetized, so feel free to kick weapon choices around for a bit.

Welcome to Dakka.

The list looks quite good. A mech Eldar army needs not more than three troop units in 1750 pt games.

I'd drop defend and shimmershield. With the points freed you could add some Vypers.

Re:1750 mecheldar

I am very hesitant to pull pts off the DAs. They tend to be the workhorses of my army, and I try to equip them to handle situations. With only a handful of vehicles to fire at, the waveserpents invariably go down over time, forcing the enclosed avengers to change role. I feel that equipping them to survive assault meets this need decently.

IF I were to free up points, I doubt highly that I would spend those points on a vyper. I ran one in a previous build, and it rarely performed to my expectations.

I agree, drop the DA buffs. Bladestorm is enough - that's 27 points alone. The other points don't pay for themselves. DAs are next to uselss in combat, moreso because they're so much more worth it when firing.

The role of Vypers in a mech list should not be underestimated.
The reason is that the enemy generally shoots tanks that are bigger threats than a Vyper.

After 5th ed, I have officially written harlequins off as useless. Granted they have an edge over T5 and higher opponents, their poor save, ridiculous cost and nerfed rending, I cant really justify them. Yes, they may be a tad more killy, but the banshees arent always intended to obliterate what they hit. at a little over 100 pts apiece, I have had the most luck employing them to backup the avengers when they get in trouble, or as a sacrificial unit that will guarantee a lot of attention on them and no one else.

Also, when I do need them to kill something, i always couple it with a doom. Banshees+doom are pretty strong against any most tough units.

However, in 1750 I wouldn't take him because:

1. Thats an awful huge chunk of my list at 1750
2. he is SUCH a deal, that I think it takes much of the challenge out of playing the game
3. While still a great deal, he costs MORE than a farseer I could build that has all the abilities I normally use, and his other perks dont really cover the difference IMO.
4. T4 and 3+ invuln domt mean much when I dont usually take my farseers out of my vehicles to begin with, and when they are forced out, eldrad will live only slightly longer than a stock-budget farseer, thus, again not worth the points.
5. God, I am sick of seeing Edrad in every list, and I enjoy having a very strong record having never used him.
