Blood Claws just feel subpar to me with str3 (when they don't charge). Yes they get loads of attacks but against things that can survive their charge, they quickly lose their steam (Nob Bikes units come to mind... those powerfists are a whole lot worse at str6). Also keep in mind that if your units are podding in, they won't get the charge the turn they land. If you get a bad scatter or something and land too close to the enemy, they could charge the Blood Claws and substantially improve their odds against them by denying them that important +1s from furious charge.

While Grey Hunters are slightly more expensive, they just seem like a more solid unit, especially in a drop pod list. They also get access to melta weapons, which are basically the biz in 40k 5 (makes it easier to pop tanks due to ap1 and 2d6 ap roll, str 8 can instakill Nob Bikes, etc).

I also think its worth it to take a Wolf Guard leader in one of your unts and give him mark of the Wulfen. Its just super strong for close combat.

I like the second list too but perhaps drop a unit of Blood Claws to get pods for those dreads (they'll get wasted so fast if they're the only things on the table) and then pick up a few attack bikes or Wolf Scouts (these guys are just too good imo). I don't like the autocannons on the Dreads either, the volume os fire isn't that impressive and its str7 is realy not that awesome with the new modifiers to vehicle damage rolls. I'd make them all multimeltas if they get pods, or lascannons otherwise.

Uhhhh...blood claws are s4 and do not have furious charge...they have berserk charge. Is there a new SW codex out that i am not aware of? It wouldn't be unlike me to forget about a new codex.

Greys are better for pod lists because of the specials they can bring with them and are rock solid when charged.

ender502

BCs are S4. They are only WS 3 though.

You want a Ven Dread in the list if you're playing with pods. The GHs should have a Pack Leader with a powerfist, runic charm, and a combi-weapon.

I think you need more GHs and fewer BCs.

I would look to drop your GH's first, shoot up the other guy with up to 2x Plasma Pistol, Meltagun (or Plasma Rifle or Flamer), and the combi-weapon. Consider 1-2 Power weapons in the unit for melee. Let them assault you. Consider dropping one BC unit in the first wave so that if you're assaulted, they can move into assault in your second round.

In the second wave, drop some GHs onto objectives.

I'd upgrade one Battle Leader to a Wolf Lord. For 15 points, you get a point of Leadership, an Attack, and a Wound (iirc - it might not be an extra attack).

If this is just for fun then I'd say well played is a fun Drop Pod army. However either list you have no answer to Biker Mega Mobs (Biker Nobz, Seer Council, etc.)

Also a Mech list is going to give you fits since they can just run from your infantry and focus fire your bikes. The problem multiples with the 2nd list in that your anti tank are stationary.

Again if non tournament I'm sure you'll fair fine, however tournament wise you have no answer to killer biker squads or mech lists.

No answer to Nob Bikers?

The 9 powerfists on bloodclaws, all of whom have counter attack are pretty good at insta-killing nob bikers, even if the bikers charge, just need to keep them alive long enough to swing.

Oh wait they have a load of spare bodies in their packs.

Ven Dread can also kill Nob bikers, but will be PK bait doing so.

don't like the auto-cannons though,

Its actually 12 powerfists however take into account nob bikers don't only just charge. They're also armed with Dakkaguns and with no real long ranged weaponry a squad of 10 nobs + a warboss can take out 3 or 4 Blood Claws a turn. If the ork player is running two 10 man nob biker squads shoot up a squad a turn 6 casualties before they charge your looking at 4 or 5 dead from the big choppas so your can attack back with 1 power fist?

Ven Dread will kill maybe 2 Nobs then get crushed. So math wise each Blood Claw squad kills 2 Nobs and the dread kills 2 how are 6 attack bikes and 2 grey hunter squads going to deal with the other whole squad of nob bikers?

Also the powerfists have no answer to a Mech Eldar list or any mech list which isn't focused on HTH.

Vs other types of armies you'll slaughter them with so many blood claws vs many standard tournament lists I think you'll be in for a very bad day.
