Eldar 1500 Suggestions?

adielubbe wrote:HQ - Avatar -155

Looks decent in your hand to hand heavy army

HQ - Farseer - Doom,Fortune, Spirit Stones - 130 (i will be attaching him to the Bashees)

This also looks like a good setup for you. You may want to consider giving him runes of witnessing (and possibly runes of warding) to ensure his powers always work

Elites - Striking Scorpions -7-exarch, scorpion's claw, salker, shadowstrike - 180

To make these guys effective, you are probably going to want to have them make use of outflanking most of the time. Putting them out in front of your army on foot just gets them shot up faster than the rest of your units. If you do ever end up putting them out on foot, then you will want to send the farseer with them.

Elites - Harlequins -8- shadowseer, 7harlequins kisses - 206

Looks good. If you have the points for it, add in the extra kiss so you don't have to worry about having one guy without one.

Elites - Howling Banshees -8- exarch, execuitioner - 150
- Waveserpent Transport - shuriken cannons, star engines, spirit stones - 125

Good load out for this unit. I see that you are keeping the serpent cheep. You may want to consider dropping the star engines since you can already move 24". At least if you find that you need to save some points.

Troops - Dire Avengers -10- exarch, 2 shuriken catapults, bladestorm - 152

While this is a good setup for dire avengers, they really need to be transported in a wave serpent to be effective. On foot, it's very difficult to get them in range. If you are looking for foot troops to bulk up your lines, you may want to just use guardians. If you are planning on having them move forward, you can always put in a warlock with conceal to help keep them safe on turns where they are out in the open.

Troops - Rangers -5- 95

I highly suggest upgrading these guys to pathfinders. Going from 3+ to 2+ cover save for them is a huge increase in survivability. Getting super shots on 5+ is helpful too (although not as good as I originaly though). If you don't have the points for the upgrade, you can live without it, but if you can squeeze it in, I highly recommend it.

Troops - Gaurdians -10- scatter laser - 95

Good bare bones setup. Keep these guys back as a rear defender and you should be fine. That or walk them up in cover and take potshots at incomming enemies. They also work as a good throw away unit to take a charge.

Heavy - Wraithlord - 2 flamers, brightlance, wraithsword - 140

This guy needs work. If you are going to use him for hand to hand, then ditch the bright lance. You won't really use it since you will be running forward most of the time. If you want to use this guy for anti tank work (and I recommend you do since you a light on anti tank power) then you will want to get rid of the sword and take a missile launcher instead. Mixing and matching in this case only leads to a unit that is ok at several things and not really good (or efficient) at anything.

Heavy - War Warlker - 2 brightlances - 90

I don't think bright lances are a good idea on war walkers. It's too many points all stacked on fairly frail and low BS platform. I'm also not a fan of war walkers in groups smaller than 3. Running some numbers, you walker has about an 11% chance to destroy an av12 or higher target in a round of shooting. A marine with a heavy bolter has about the same chance of destroying your war walker and your odds of survival only go down when stronger weapons start getting pointed at you. So if you are looking for extra points to spend elsewhere in the army, this is probably the place to get them. You could spend some of the points saved here to buy haywire grenades for your scorpions so you have less problems with anti tank work.
