Requesting Advice - Autocannon Shells and Guard Poses

I'm working on some Cadian Heavy Weapons Team kits at the moment - currently three autocannons. I decided to add some spent shells to one of the guns (some lying on the base, others falling from the ejection port). I noticed something odd about the autocannons, however - the ejection port seems very small given the size of the gun. The largest diameter "shell casings" (styrene tubes) that seemed to fit nicely were about 1.2mm (3/64") in diameter and approximately 5mm (6/64") long. This seems to be about twice the diameter and length of a guardsman's finger, and only about half the diameter of the gun's barrel at its narrowest visible point. Upon comparison, the ejection port of an autocannon didn't seem much bigger than the one on the heavy bolter (slightly longer, and only marginally wider). At this size, it barely seems worthwhile to drill out the shell casings.

I'm trying to decide whether the dimensions this suggests for autocannon ammunition are appropriate, or if I should try to remodel the weapon to accommodate lager shells. Has anyone else modelled spent casings from these guns, and if so, do you have any suggestions? (Pictures would be especially helpful - if someone has made them look good at this size, I might just leave them alone.) If someone has a good fluff argument for these dimensions, I'd be interested as well, but I thought autocannons were supposed to fire small artillery shells instead of large bullets or bolts (are they only "cannons" in the same sense as large anti-aircraft machine guns?).

In addition to this, I'm having a some trouble re-posing a couple of standard guardsmen. In one case I'm trying to make a trooper hold his lasgun perpendicular to his chest (all standard poses hold them parallel), and in another I'm trying to have him hold the gun with only his left hand (gesturing or holding something else with the right). If anyone has good solutions for these problems, please let me know.

Well i just finished a 10 man squad!

The left hand holding the gun problems easy you use the arm with the hand attached and glue on a separate gun...Or you cud use the chainsword arm and use the hand of the arm to hold the gun.

Posing is quite gd with the cadians you can make some cool poses just by the head positioning.

legion
