Mysterious Bit on Black Reach Sprue...

...located in the same area as the Terminator Sgt's torso and left arm w'sword, and SM Tactical rocket launcher backpack and RL. It is a small bit that looks like for spent brass shell casings, but large ones like for a bolter. I'd think it went on the base as decoration, but it has a peg on the reverse side to go into a hole - SOMEWHERE! But I can't see where on the termie sgt or the SM w' rocket launcher it would go.

I'd be super annoyed if, after assembling, painting and putting them on the table someone said, "hey, wheres the little __________ that goes into this hole???"

Thanks!

The peg on the reverse side is to go into any hole that you cut on the base. When you put the terminators on the base, you noticed that they have a peg on one of their feet? Well, that goes into the base, once you've cut a hole in their larger bases. The decorative bit is put into the base in the same way. Of course it's your choice how you base your models, but they've given you that bit so that you can make your base more interesting!

I just got me AoBR and I still haven't used the shell casings to plug up any holes. They look like turds in my opinion.

And my set came with holes pre-made on the large bases. Two of em in-fact. But the way they placed the holes only makes placing the "shells" even more awkward.

Could be that the bases have changed. Some of my original Terminator bases (AOBR) had two holes. I used the bullet pile or skull with a round through it to fill one hole while the other hole was used for the figure's foot peg.

1) cut off the peg
2) the bottom down so it doesn't stick up so much
3) glue to base
4) when you flock, make sure the sand covers part of the bit, but not so much as to overwhelm it

that's what I did with the skull on my AoBR dread
