varnish alternatives.

hey all, Im looking for a cheaper alternative to GW's matte varnish. Will any varnish that I could buy from say, B&Q do, or does it need to be a specific kind?

thanks

- Jack

You're talking about something that you can use to seal your figures or an application that's more specific? For sealing, I use Krylon Clear Coat.

Hi There

This might be hard to believe, but I've found that good 'ol ladies hairspray works as a great substitute and as you can often pick up cans the size of a small car, they are cheap too. As my wife always has some around the house I dont even have to buy it! Score!

Get a test model and try some out, you'll be surprised!

Cheers

I might give that a try groo. Might leave my orks smelling a bit girly, but such is the price to pay for resilient paint.

although, I wonder, would the hairspray not become a sticky mess if the model ever accidentally got wet?

Given enough time to dry and even coating, it is really resilient. But a plus in that vein, if in the future you want to remove the paintjob, warm soapy water and a good scrub does the trick

This is my chapter champion with a good coating...

cheers!
