Quick question - why does everyone seem to favor the Plasma Cannon on their Forgeworld dreads?

Has 5th edition made it any better?

I know assault cannons took a bit of a hit, but, are they really not worth taking anymore?

Thanks for all the comments, I should have mentioned earlier you can click the pic to vote (As I've updated that from earlier).

It's magnetized, so I can switch out arms if I want Alpharius. Although, I usually use the Plasma Cannon because I think the Assault Cannon is rather dull in comparison.
