2000 Points SM

Ok, since Vulkan came out, he has been a favorite of spammers and theory hammers with the intent of putting as many Meltas, and flamers on the table as possible. This army is not all together too different from that, but with the added wrinkle of force projection. Multimeltas, meltas, and Flamers are Radtacular, but only when withing 6-12" of the opponent, otherwise they really arn't great (or useless).
So this army inteds to put the pressure on the opponent from Second 1. the moment the Space marine takes his turn, it's all about projecting those templates and close range mulimeltas as fast and deadly as possible. Everything should be killing SOMETHING the moment it is used, with those precious templates and MM. I would LOVE to take this army VS horde ork, and LR spam.

This army will have difficulty vs nidzilla, and Necrons (necrons the most).

Anyway, here it is.

HQ Vulkan– 190
Elites
Dread + heavy flamer +MM + Drop pod + locator beacon – 160
Dread + heavy flamer +MM + Drop pod + locator beacon - 160
Dread + heavy flamer +MM + Drop pod + locator beacon – 160
Total - 480

Troops
10 man squad + Flamer + MM + Pod +beacon – 215
10 man squad + Flamer + MM + Pod +beacon +PW -- 230

Fast attack –
3 land speeders + MM + heavy flamer – 210
3 land speeders + MM + heavy flamer - 210
3 land speeders + MM + heavy flamer - 210

heavy support
3 Whirlwinds – 255
total - 2000

The whirlwind is the best 85 points in the game, IMO. It can lay down terrifying fire vs just about any infantry formation, also since the meta is making people rely on cover saves more and more, the whirlwind is looking better and better.

1t turn drops in 3 dreads with heavy flamer + MM. they either go hunting for MBT's, or use their heavy flamers on infantry, while the whirlwinds take out other infantry in cover.

THe land speeders use the Locator becons on the pods to arrive close to the enemy, and use their twin-linked Heavy flamers and multimeltas to clean up whatever killed the dreads.

Finally, the squads take objectives, hopefully after most of the speeders have dropped in.

I don't think there is much other than a 'Zilla list that can withstand 14 Twin-linked Multi-meltas, 13 twin linked heavy flamers, 2 flamers, and 3 whirlwind pieplates. 'crons will be hard due to monoliths, and gauss shots, but I think this army would fare relativly well vs the flying circus.

Fortunatly, due to the meta changing, Zilla lists are often going CC, which means that the land speeders may be able to survive for a long time, long enough to whittle down the Fex's so that the Tacs squads arn't murdered by them.
