Removal of Glue AND Paint

Okay, I know this is probably one of the "asked every month" type of questions, but I did a search and found nothing to directly help me, plus...my question is a bit different:

Here's the story: I am looking for something to take the paint AND glue off of my model (a Monolith). Obviously I don't want anything that will wreck/warp the plastic, and the gauss rods...I have used Pine Sol on a couple models, but that just got rid of the paint...supposedly, a couple of other cleaners (Such as Castrol Super Clean) COULD take off the glue if left in a long time, but if left in too long could it wreck the plastic?

Any insight would be VERY helpful on this, as I am quite afraid of wrecking my expensive monolith.

Removal of Glue AND Paint

Well, if what you did successfully removed the paint but not the glue, just do that first, then follow the different guides on dakka on how to get rid of glue.

Twice the work, but if you can keep your monolith intact in the process, maybe its worth the extra effort?

Removal of Glue AND Paint

okay, after doing some searching, the only glue removal sections say how to remove super glue , not regular modelling glue....or am I just TOTALLY missing something?

Also, more searching and people are saying NOT to use Pine Sol for plastic(I used on metal models, and like 1 plastic guy so far...)

I am more confused than ever!

Removal of Glue AND Paint

once plastic glue has melted together for a while it is easily possible to cut with a sharp blade.
the glue seems to make the plastic around it alot weaker as its been melted, allowing it to be cut without too much work.

Removal of Glue AND Paint

well that sucks, that I will have to cut it, that is sorta what I expected once I reasoned the fact that plastic glue "melts" the plastic a bit....

Also, for a model like that, any better suggestions than Pine Sol (which I DO use, but I have only stripped metal models ATM)?
