Dual Lash Slaanesh Chaos Space Marines

Hey guys,
I'm a long time lurker and long time hobbyist. Found this site after looking for modelling advice, and this site had some some of the best hobby and tactical advice on this site. I stumbled onto Stelek's work and it was definitely pretty cool learning about competitive army lists. After looking up a few lash prince lists, I came up with my own version that tries to reconcile the competitiveness with fun modelling.

HQ: 1 Daemon Prince @ 155 Pts
Close Combat Weapon; Fearless; Wings; Lash of Submission; Mark of Slaanesh

HQ: Chaos Sorceror
1 Chaos Sorceror @ 150 Pts
Bolt Pistol (x1); Force Weapon (x1); Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Lash of Submission; Jump Pack; Mark of Slaanesh

Troops: Noise Marines
7 Noise Marines @ 210 Pts
Bolt Pistol; Close Combat Weapon; Blastmaster; Sonic Blaster (x6); Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Fearless; Mark of Slaanesh; Rhino
1 Rhino @ [50] Pts
Havoc Launcher; Twin Linked Bolter; Searchlight; Smoke Launchers

Troops: Noise Marines
7 Noise Marines @ 210 Pts
Bolt Pistol; Close Combat Weapon; Blastmaster; Sonic Blaster (x6); Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Fearless; Mark of Slaanesh; Rhino
1 Rhino @ [50] Pts
Havoc Launcher; Twin Linked Bolter; Searchlight; Smoke Launchers

Troops: Noise Marines
7 Noise Marines @ 210 Pts
Bolt Pistol; Close Combat Weapon; Blastmaster; Sonic Blaster (x6); Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Fearless; Mark of Slaanesh; Rhino
1 Rhino @ [50] Pts
Havoc Launcher; Twin Linked Bolter; Searchlight; Smoke Launchers

Fast Attack: Raptors
7 Raptors @ 210 Pts
Bolt Pistol; Close Combat Weapon; Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Mark of Slaanesh; Melta Gun (x2);Aspiring Champion; Powerfist. Melta Bombs

Heavy Support: Obliterators
2 Obliterators @ 150 Pts
Power Fist; Obliterator Weapons; Fearless; Slow and Purposeful

2 Obliterators @ 150 Pts
Power Fist; Obliterator Weapons; Fearless; Slow and Purposeful

2 Obliterators @ 150 Pts
Power Fist; Obliterator Weapons; Fearless; Slow and Purposeful

Although this seems like a pretty vanilla lash list, comments and criticisms are definitely welcome. My major question is whether the Raptors are eating up points that could be spent on two Dreads with Meltas? Basically fulfill the same purpose but the added bonus of being two dreads. The only concern is with MC, as I think the Raptors may have a little easier time fighting them (since there's more and won't get blown up when fighting strength+2d6 armour pen). Thoughts?

Yup that's about the standard lash list. You win games with it. Then lose friends with it.
It's a great list for tournaments, but don't expect people to play you more than once or twice when you come at them with this list.

I'm one of stelak's few fans on dakka, but I'll tell you right now that the lists stelak comes up with are great for tourney's but not great for friendly play.

Raptors seem bad, even if you can use lash to bring units to them.

Thing about lash is that its basically a good army no matter what (you have to try to make a bad lash army... no really you do). Your build is fluffy with all MoS units (aside fro mthe Oblits of course), which is a plus. Noise Marines are still really good and feature in a lot of lash lists, so you've still got quite a generic build here aside from the Raptors.

Bit tricky this decision but with 2 teleporting 5 man Tzeench terminators and 2 wing princes I should be able to negate targets to enemy in case of 5 targets mission.
The 3 obliterators + 2 vindicators should give me more than enought blast suport to the lash princes and having 2 LR in the army I get more or less the same number of Laser hits in case I need to use them.
Ive selected this army because its really the only way to win vs those 30 Hammer/storm shield terminator + kayvaan+librarian+30 explorers armies.
Also this work good agains a full terminator/Landraiders dark angels army.
Give it a try and tell me what you think

Hey all, thanks for the responses.

@wuestenfux: hah yeah sorry about that. It's 1750 pts but i think someone already mentioned it. Once again it's not completely groundbreaking.

@enmity, sexiest_hero, Deadshane1: Yeah this is a very vanilla lash list, just trying to create something that looks visually pleasing and at the same time fluffy and dangerous. I was actually plannning on using the Oblits to look like terminator models, since I like the (relative) cleanliness of the models vs. the sinewy Oblit models. Also, what are your thoughts on the Raptors vs. Dreads?

@Sandokann : that looks really interesting, although the terminators seem like a huge points sink. and yeah, the lack of troop choices is also a concern. But thanks for the list, something to consider. Would it work with Slaaneshi terminators? I'm trying to stay relatively fluffy, without bending the rules TOO much (i've considered taking plague marines and calling them extra-tough Slaaneshi assault troops, but decided it just didn't seem right). I understand that the Lash List works on being able to drop monstrous amounts of templates.

@Eldar Vampire Hunter: I'm not sure the vindicator fits into the fluff of Slaanesh. Although I suppose the oblits are guilty of the same treason. The defiler works (but the model.. ick!) but unless you spam them they don't seem to be too common. Plus the Noise Marines already drop strength 8 ap 3 templates (abeit smaller ones). But this does seem to be a little more friendly.

@All: I definitely recognize the cheese factor in this list and the reported "unfriendliness". I'm definitely a fan of fun balanced, good looking armies vs. ugly, competitive jerk ones. Although I am planning on taking part in the Canadian tournament scene and wondering if anyone has seen lots of these around?

I'm with Sandokann: the Lash-Spam lists are vulnerable to any well-built 5th edition list. In other words, it's not the "copy-paste-win" some people seem to think it is unless you're playing an opponent who will obligingly field a 4th edition army list. The different between the editions is vehicles, essentially. A good 5th edition list is mechanized, and the Lash of Submission is useless against vehicles.

Against Space Marines, particularly those running the fashionable Assault Terminators in Land Raiders, fielding this army is throwing the game. The funny thing is that once the Lash of Submission is negated by troops occupying buildings and vehicles, the weaknesses of Obliterators and Plague Marines to power weapons becomes apparent.

I'd recommend a hybrid of your list and Sandokann's list by replacing your Obliterators with two Land Raiders, your Noise Marines with Melta-packing Chaos Marines and Terminators, and ditching your HQs for Lucius.

@All: Yeah I want to keep this relatively consistent with a Slaanesh theme (my favourite chaos god).

@Nurglitch: Lucius is an interesting choice. I love the model and was going to use him as my Daemon Prince (With wings of course). How would he be used? He doesn't seem too effective to close combat compare to a standard Daemon Prince.

So i guess the general consensus is more melta guns? I would've thought that the 6 Oblits with Lascannons/Multi-Meltas would be sufficient, although they are limited in picking 3 targets a turn, and not guarenteed against Land Raiders/other 14 AV vehicles.

Is there an effective way to add meltas with a slaanesh list? The options for mass melta guns seem to be Havocs, Oblits, Chosen, and Terminators with combi weapons. Or should there just be a mess of them all over the place. Anything I've missed?

whitedragon:

Apparently he wants a Slaanesh theme, which doesn't mean taking the Lash of Submission.

punkisntdeadyet:

Lucius is better at clearing hordes than a Daemon Prince. Same goes for a Slaaneshi Lord with a Daemon Weapon. However, where the latter gets A3+1D6 Gets Daemon Weaponed the former gets a Doom Siren, a nasty template weapon, a Personal Icon, the Armour of Shrieking Souls, and the Lash of Torment.

The Doom Siren is pretty self-explanatory: you hit a unit before charging. Likewise the Personal Icon allows you to bring Summoned Daemons, Chaos Terminators, and Obliterators in where Lucius goes without risk of scatter or mishap.

The Armour of Shrieking Souls causes a S4 Power weapon hit with each armour or invulnerable saving throw it makes. This makes his close combat value increased against hordes. Tossing him into a unit of Orks is pretty amusing. The Lash of Torment complements this against harder targets, like Daemon Princes, by reducing their attacks against him.

He's also relatively cheap and benefits from the Independent Character rules. Jumping him out of a unit of Noise Marines to engage a unit of enemy assault troops bearing down on them is a good use of his abilities. Shoot up a unit, then sweep it up with Lucius.

With regard to Slaaneshi theming, remember that you can get Chaos Space Marines with Icons of Slaanesh. Chaos Terminators can also take Icons of Slaanesh.

Dual Lash Slaanesh Chaos Space Marines

punkisntdeadyet:

T4 without Eternal Warrior is only a liability against Powerfists if the Powerfists survive to attack you. Typically they're dangerous to stuff like lone Dreadnoughts and Monstrous Creatures and Independent Characters because those units cannot kill enough non-Powerfist models to have the Powerfist models removed prior to I1. However, where the Armour of Shrieking Souls is concerned, so long as Lucius is hit by I2+ models, the S4 hits made by his saves will occur at I2+. Moreover, because Lucius can join a unit, that means that you're not simply relying on him along to kill stuff (actively speaking, he's actually sub-par), you also have a back-up of Noise Marines to also lay down some attacks, and you can stick it all in a Land Raider to prevent long range sniping before you can deliver him to his victims.

There's a similar problem with a Chaos Lord of Khorne wielding a Bloodfeeder. Alone against another unit, it's a risky proposition, but backed up by a unit of Khorne Berzerkers the risk is minimized.

The army in the link was made under the 4th edition sub-codex, but the basic concept is good where you replace the Daemon Princes with Lucius, and the Dreadnought/Daemons/Obliterators with Terminators, Vindicators, etc.

The lash can also be combined with Vindicators.
So why not dropping the Obliterators for Vindicators.
This would free some points 450 - 345 = 105 pts to get a larger Termie squad by dropping the mediocre Raptors.
